Torrent Harvester Changelog

What's new in Torrent Harvester 0.7b

Jul 17, 2006
  • Since the previous release, many engines no longer work due to the fact that the sites they are based have been either redesigned, or no longer exist. I won't list all the new, removed, or modified engines. A complete list of engines release with this version can be seen on the Included Engines page. A few engines have been removed due to the fact I am unable to test them without an account. Some sites are now invite only and I do not have the time to chase up invites. I'll leave it up to the users to create engines for these sites and post them or their update sites to the Torrent Harvester Support Forum
  • Moved website to http://TorrentHarvester.awardspace.com and created a new support forum at http://THForum.awardspace.com
  • Created a Main Menu to allow for all the new options.
  • Removed engines from settings and added to main screen via a toggle button "status". Engines can now be selected/deselected from here. This screen now also serves as a progress/status screen which will show the progress of any currently running engines and which engines failed to connect, or failed to return results for the current search. Will also give an idea of engines on slow servers taking an inordinate amount of time to retrieve results. Right clicking on an engine will give the options which were previously available on the settings page, but also an option to "expand" which will show the pages returned from the search.
  • Added a more descriptive status message in the status bar when searching.
  • Added "field type" to Engine Designer, thus removing the need to specifically set a field type when adding new columns in settings to the search list. This will however mean a possible conflict with two engines having the same field name but of different field types. In such a case the field will be displayed twice in the columns dialog, one for each data type.
  • Added "hidden" to Engine Designer fields to allow fields to be excluded from the available columns in the columns dialog.
  • Created a Columns Dialog from the Columns tab in settings.
  • Added filtering on any column which is displayed in the search list. The filters can be altered at any time (even mid-search). The main search still returns the same results, but the list is only populated with files matching the filter criteria. You can change the filter many times to narrow down search results without having to re-perform the search. There is now two columns in the engine list which specify the number of results returned followed by the number of results filtered out, for example results of 50 and 8 means that 50 files were returned from the search, of which 8 have been excluded for not meeting the search criteria. I've also added an option to each filter to "Allow blank", sometimes you may wish to also display entries which are empty as well as the ones that fit your criterion. For example, if we set a filter of "Seeds>10" and also check "Allow blank" this will return all entries with seeds of greater than 10 and also all entries with a blank seeds column. A blank seeds column does not mean no seeds, it simply means the seeds information was not available from the search page.
  • Added a checkbox to the settings to turn off the display of the tooltip when the mouse hovers over individual file entries.
  • Added option in settings to limit the number of results per engine, and also to limit the number of pages returned from a search
  • Added option to ask before executing downloaded files
  • Rerigged the multitasking to eliminate blocking conflicts. Also updating controls from the thread on which they were created.
  • Added a mainmenu to take care of the additional options.
  • Added an option to change the font which is used in the search results.
  • Moved the selection of which columns are displayed in the list from the settings dialog to a dialog of it's own.
  • Redesigned the Engine Designer, again... trying to make it simpler. I won't go into details about all the changes, I'd be surprised if anyone out there has actually managed to make a new Engine without help. Up until now It's only really been of use to me as I know of the idiosyncracies involved in making an Engine.
  • Removed the need to log into Engines which use websites which require user login. Login information is now retrieved directly from the cookies stored by your browser.
  • Created a form to allow changing of the folder which contains the cookies.
  • Added an option to check for the Torrent Harvester website for Program updates and Engine updates and install them if the user wishes.
  • Fixed glitches in download window
  • Fixed many of the Engines which had either had site redesign or sites gone down.
  • Created help and dumped the readme.
  • Many fixes, updates, and overhauls too numerous to mention individually but which basically makes a huge step forward over version 0.6b
