MECHANICAL DESIGN:
NEW Imprint Edge:
This new tool can Imprint Edges into Faces by dividing them into discrete areas each of which can have its own material.
IMPROVED Revolve Face:
TurboCAD now offers the ability to use a 2D profile to generate a revolve from the face of an existing 3D object and either add or subtract the result.
NEW 3D Slice by Facet:
TurboCAD makes it easy to slice, or divide, one or more 3D objects into new objects, by specifying the slicing plane. The 3D slice tool, which offers the ability to slice by line, by plane, by workplane, and by surface, now includes Slice by Facet.
New Slots Tools. Three new slot tools for inventors, woodworking and furniture design. They include:

The IFC file filter, commonly used for BIM operations, now supports the Import/Export of Beam object types and Column object types.
IMPROVED House Wizard Tool:
The house wizard, used to quickly layout a house plan, placing and sizing each room, drop in closets, passageways, a garage, and even decking, now allows you to name each room while in the tool so you don’t have to do it after.

Faster update of some objects in RedSDK mode:
Auto-update of some objects like TurboCAD Camera and TurboCAD Light in RedSDK mode is now much faster.

Improved RedSDK Transparent fill support:
Transparent fill now works the same in both Redsdk and GDI. A solid brush pattern can also be called a fill.
GENERAL:
NEW/Improved Mirror Copy Tool for 3D Objects:
3D Mirror Options are now all part of the Part Tree to more easily manage changes.
New Mirror Along Face option lets users define a plane across which the Mirror operation should be performed.
New Try to Create Single Object option, if turned on, TurboCAD will try to add the original object and its mirrored copy
NEW Backup of Open Documents on Program Close:
When this new option is on, all open documents are backed up on program close without prompting. Then when you next start the program, the same documents are automatically reloaded so that you can continue working where you left off.
NEW File Buffer:
When a file is closed or when the application is closed, this new option saves the Undo/Redo buffer and is re-loaded when the file is reopened, so it can be used from the last design change.
NEW Untitled Documents:
Documents that you have created but have not saved are now backed up using the name "Untitled" followed by a number and the date/time. This name and number corresponds to those shown in the titlebar when you are editing new unsaved documents.
NEW ISO Circle/Grid:
This new tool allows you to easily construct isometric circles.

Drag reference point and rotation bars with CTRL
Scale handles on boundary boxed as in classic mode
New Highlighting (Redsdk Only):
UI enhancement which highlights 3D objects and parts of 3D objects while using certain tools in Redsdk mode including imprinting, quick pull & 3D mirror copying.
New Spaces:
Manage all your spaces through the design director including model space, and all paper spaces so you can handle spaces more efficiently than the tab interface allows.
New Show Normals:
The visualization of the normals make it easier to estimate the smoothness and orientation of the 3D objects, and to find artifacts/defects on those objects.

FILE INTEROPERABILITY:
New PRC 3D PDF Support:
TurboCAD now supports both .U3D and .PRC (Product Representation Compact) file export. This new filter option exports 3D content in PRC format.
Improved DWG and DXF File Support:
TurboCAD now uses the latest Teigha engine for the conversion of .DWG and .DXF files to and from TurboCAD for improved interoperability with other CAD applications.

New GPU Accelerated Drawing Performance:
TurboCAD’s Redsdk drawing engine, which takes advantage of GPU-based graphic cards, has now been implemented in Hidden Line and Draft Rendering mode, as well as Wireframe Mode to design up to 60 times faster in these popular modes.
New Multi-threading support:
The new Lightworks 8.3 rendering engine supports multi-threading, taking advantage of multi core processors so the turn around time on the lighting and rendering calculations are much faster. ACIS operations that include two and more objects (i.e. Boolean operations, face to face lofting, extrude to face, imprint, etc.) also now support multi-threading, so these operations execute much faster.
New Window or Crossing Selection:
Users can now select objects with a mouse by using the Window or Crossing methods similar to AutoCAD. Drag the mouse from left to right to invoke Window mode and select only objects that are entirely within the blue window. Drag the mouse from right to left to invoke Crossing mode and select only objects that touch the green Crossing window.
New Lightworks 8.3 engine:
TurboCAD’s powerful rending engine now provides progressive, ray-traced rendering, improving workflow by generating fast estimates of the image and an early preview of light settings. Lightworks 8.3 also supports multi-threading, taking advantage of multi core processors so the turn around time calculations are much faster. Anti-aliasing for geometry & materials is also improved.

Enhanced Layers:
TurboCAD 18 layers are more AutoCAD compatible, including a new layers dialog based upon 'Design Center'. Users also now have the ability to turn on/off Layers per Viewport.
Improved Drafting Palette:
TurboCAD’s powerful drafting palette can now be locked when inactive to disable updates of drafting objects. This excludes unnecessary drafting recalculations on each step saving time redrawing the model. This palette also now distinguishes between 'Surface' and 'ACIS Body' drafting objects automatically, & a Section Line Depth setting was added. (Pro and Platinum only)
Improved Fillet (2D) tool:
The updated 2D Fillet tool can re-fillet neighboring line segments, creating a new arc segment, tangent to those line segments. It works with polyline with arc segments too.
Additional Enhancements:
Mirror tool can mirror a block & retain text orientation.
Measurement in TurboCAD now shows a measurement history (previous distance, area, etc.).
Text now uses the Enter key to wrap text to the next line. Users can also pick a position on screen to start a new line.
Stretch Tool updates offer greater control with improved Rubber-banding of objects and improved visualization for more precise control of stretched objects.
Trim Tool now works with multilines for enhanced productivity.
New Dynamic Dimensions for Doors and Windows:
Now dimensions display as doors and windows are inserted, showing the distance to and from the wall ends for easier, more precise placement. Plus, corresponding offset fields have been added to the Inspector Bar.
Improved Doors and Windows:
New TurboCAD 18 now offer the ability to attach a block(s) to a selected door style or window style.
New House Wizard:
This big, time-saving tool creates a preliminary room-by-room design of a home.
Roofs and walls are more intelligent:
Tops of walls now automatically modify when changing a roof slope. You can also add different materials to various components (top, bottom, fascia, etc.) of a roof.
New ‘On Polyline’ Pattern tool:
TurboCAD’s new pattern tool let you apply 3D patterns ‘On Polyline’ for a total of six tools to rapidly create parametric pattern from ACIS solids. Plus pattern associativity with the object it was set up has been improved as well as placement of objects along a curve on the surface will be normal to the surface.

This new tool located on the Modify/Assemble menu allows you to place graphics on any given path. It’s useful for laying out profiles for lofts, or arranging graphics including lines, splines, circles, arcs or ACIS edges for solids & surfaces.
New Multi-Add tool:
Select multiple objects to do Boolean operations with this powerful new tool.
New 3D Fillet tool:
This new tool allows for filleting of 3D polylines. Objects can be used as compound path for sweeps, etc.
New Assembly by Axis Modes:
Three new modes have been added to make Assembly By Axis much faster. These include (1) Ability to move bodies along an axis by definition of two faces and the distance between them; (2) Ability to rotate a body over the axis by definition of two faces to coincide with their normals; and (3) Rotation of bodies over the axis by definition two additional axes which must be coincidental. In addition, assembly tools now work with XRefs and insertions. Plus, Assembly by Facet was moved into Assembly By Tangents tool as a new mode.
Improved Sweep tools:
Sweeps now work with 3D curves and the new 3D Fillet tool. Users can also sweep along any object's Edge or along a Loop (a closure of edges on a 3D surface).
Simple Extrude tool:
TurboCAD 18 adds power to the simple extrude tool with the ability to use a Text object as a Compound Profile with this tool.
Improved Bend/Unbend tools:
These updated tools offers more accurate bending and unbending of objects.
Improved Imprint tools:
TurboCAD 18 now offers the ability to use a Text object as a Compound Profile with the Imprint tool.
New Ruby Scripting:
New scripting language, compatible with Google SketchUp Ruby scripts, uses the Ruby Scripting Console for writing program scripts suitable for both mechanical and architectural design.
Enhanced Software Development Kit:
SDK samples and .NET support have been added.
New AutoCAD®2011 .DWG/.DXF Compatibility:
Filter enhancements offer improved file sharing with AutoCAD 2010 and 2011.
New Support for Google SketchUp v8:
Updates to TurboCAD’s .SKP filter allows users to now read/write Google SketchUp files up to version 8.
