    Veeam Reporter 4.0.1.268 - Changelog

What's new in Veeam Reporter 4.0.1.268:

    August 21st, 2010

    Enterprise-class reporting :

Veeam Reporter 4.0 features a new reporting engine based on Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). This industry-standard, web-based, enterprise-strength reporting tool provides a number of benefits, including:
    · Ease of administration: SSRS provides everything needed to generate and display reports—there’s no software to install and maintain on client machines and no dependence on Microsoft Office applications.
    · Broad client support: Users on many different client platforms can access reports via the web-based interface.
    · Scalability: Supports multiple simultaneous report users.
    · No additional cost: Available with any edition of Microsoft SQL Server (including SQL Server Express) at no additional charge.
    · The reporting architecture has also been enhanced to allow for report packs, which can be delivered independent of a product release. This allows new reports to be delivered in a more timely and flexible way. Version 4.0 ships with the base report pack, which includes all reports currently available.
    · Note: The previous reporting engine, Veeam Report Viewer, will continue to be supported in version 4.0 for viewing Visio diagrams and custom reports.

    Customizable dashboards:

    · The new, redesigned web UI (user interface) also allows you to easily create and customize your own dashboard. For example, you can add commonly used reports and observe the most important aspects of your virtual environment at a glance. You can also integrate reports into third-party dashboards and intranet web portals, such as Microsoft SharePoint.

    Performance and events:

    · Veeam Reporter 4.0 now collects historical performance data from vCenter to facilitate capacity planning, chargeback, trend reporting, and troubleshooting of recurring performance issues. vCenter events are also collected and archived, providing an important source of information for forensic analysis and internal audits.
    · Veeam Reporter 4.0 is a major update to Veeam’s reporting and change management solution for VMware vSphere 4 and VMware Infrastructure 3 (VI3). As a result of ongoing research and development, and in response to customer feedback, version 4.0 includes important enhancements and a markedly expanded range of features, most not available from any other vendor. The new features illustrate why Veeam is #1 in customer satisfaction, innovation and value.

    Capacity planning:

    · In addition to the base report pack, Veeam Reporter 4.0 includes a new report pack for capacity planning. Not only can you see available resources (CPU, memory, and storage) by datacenter or cluster, but you can also forecast when resources will reach utilization thresholds based on historical trends in VM growth. With a clear picture of current and forecasted utilization, you can avoid service slowdowns and manage growth in the most cost-effective and least disruptive way possible.
    · Note: The capacity planning report pack will be available as a separate download shortly after Veeam Reporter 4.0 is released.

    Configuration management:

    · Veeam Reporter 4.0 is the first to provide configuration reporting on vSphere ESX4 Host Profiles. Veeam Reporter 4.0 also reports on other vSphere-specific features, such as distributed switches. This new functionality extends compatibility with vSphere 4, which has been available since vSphere was released last year, to full and native support.
    · Version 4.0 also includes new reports on network and storage configuration for VI3 environments.

Improved change reporting—who, what, where, when and how:

    · In our continuing effort to provide the best VMware change management capabilities on the market, Veeam Reporter 4.0 features improved change management reports, including audit information for changed objects. The new data collection and reporting provide information about the who, what, where, when, and how (new and previous settings) for configuration changes in the virtual environment. This functionality is especially helpful for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and recovering the virtual environment from accidental changes or changes that produce unexpected results.

    Other enhancements:
    · Full Business View integration. Veeam Business View now integrates directly with Veeam Reporter’s web UI so you can easily view virtual machines by business unit, department, location, purpose, service level agreement, type of server, or any other criteria you define. By grouping virtual machines according to the constructs of your business, you can provide executive management with more meaningful views and reports of your virtual infrastructure.
    · Improved Visio diagrams. Diagrams of the virtual infrastructure have been redesigned to accommodate environments with thousands of virtual machines. Beta customers report being able to print and clearly read diagrams with 6000+ virtual machines.

What's new in Veeam Reporter 3.5.0.26:

    March 27th, 2009

New Reports Veeam Reporter 3.5 adds the following new pre-defined reports:
    · VM operating systems by type — identifies the types and counts of operating systems running on your virtual machines for licensing and other purposes.
    · VM by storage – shows how your virtual machines are distributed across your storage to better understand if some storage is over or under utilized compared to the recommended number of VMs per spindle.
    · Storage load – shows the load on each storage device (used and free disk space), and howthese loads compare to each other.
    · Datastore utilization – shows an at‐a‐glance view of all your storage devices grouped by disk space utilization.
    · Revised Reports
    · Many existing reports have new, re‐designed layouts to better display large VMware environments.
    · Additional Networking Data Collection
    · In response to customer requests, Reporter 3.5 now collects and displays in the reports a number of additional Virtual Infrastructure settings, including virtual NIC settings.
    · Improved Performance
    · Report generation performance has been improved significantly (by up to 10 times, depending on the specific report). Performance improvements are especially notable when reating reports from larger object scopes.
