WM Capture Changelog

What's new in WM Capture 9.2.1

Nov 21, 2018
  • New in version 9:
  • H264 video format, Intel Quick Sync
  • H264 video format, NVIDIA NVENC
  • AAC and MP3 audio formats
  • CPU usage monitoring
  • Intel Quick Sync and NVIDIA NVENC:
  • WM Capture 9 adds Intel Quick Sync video encoding technology included in many new laptops and desktops, especially those operating on Windows 10. It also adds the NVIDIA NVENC video encoder found in many video cards and high-end computers. When using these video encoders WM Capture 9 splits the video encoding between the CPU and the GPU with the result of higher encoding speed and lower CPU consumption.
  • H264/MP4 video format:
  • This video format is particularly important when recording high motion, larger size videos. A four core CPU computer can record 1920x1080 (HD) videos at 60 fps with very high video quality and smaller file sizes. In addition, the MP4 format can be used to capture larger window size like the 4K (UHD) videos.
  • Note that these high- performance features require using the Background mode.
  • CPU usage monitor:
  • WM Capture 9 tracks CPU usage to maximizes quality of recordings and prevent overloading the CPU.
  • Improved Background mode:
  • Just as with the previous versions the Background mode allows using your monitor for doing other things while recording the screen and improves the quality of recordings. Version 9 can automatically disable the Chrome browser hardware acceleration required when using the Background mode.
  • New improved user interface:
  • The new UI adds increased functionality and more intuitive usage.

New in WM Capture 7.2 (Jan 10, 2014)

  • Thumb Drive mode:
  • This is another new, unique feature introduced by WM Capture 7. When you enable the Thumb Drive mode you can move the program from one computer to another and record videos without the need for another installation. Once you remove the drive there are no traces you’ve done any work on that computer. So if your company does not allow installation of programs on company’s computers or you want your recording activity to be private you can still capture videos from any computer screen with no hassles and no need for installation.
  • Integrated video converter:
  • WM Capture is now shipped with WM Converter Lite attached and linked. This program can convert to and from any popular video and audio formats, accepts drag and drop, resize images, maintains aspect ratio and much more. It also very fast, converting an MPEG-2 video to iPhone format in 1/10th of the actual play time.
  • Background mode (BCK):
  • This is a new modality of recording video from your computer screen introduced by WM Capture. Conventional screen capture of a video requires the video to be visible and in the same screen position for the entire duration of recording. As a result you cannot use the screen for running other programs that obscure the video window. In the BCK mode the recorded video doesn’t need to be visible anymore. You can hide the recording window and use the screen for running other programs. Now you can read your email, write documents or search the web while recoding your video in the background. No other screen capture program offers this groundbreaking feature at this time.
  • iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android, Apple, YouTube video format added:
  • Version 7.2 includes MP4 video format used by all mobile devices and Apple computers. It can also be used for YouTube video submissions. The recorded videos are properly scaled to fit the specified mobile device screen and preserve the aspect ratio. No additional conversions are necessary when MP4 scaled videos are transferred to mobile devices.
  • Windows 8 compatibility:
  • While previous versions can be successfully used with Windows 8 this version adds features that improve functionality on this new Windows version. You need to run your Windows 8 in the Desktop mode.

  • Fixed pause issue:
  • Pause option was added for Windows Media Player format (missing in the previous versions).
  • Full operation from external drives:
  • WM Capture can be installed and operate entirely from an external drive. Save computer disc space by recording your videos on external drives.
  • High definition recording:
  • Using MPEG-2 you can record 720p or higher resolution videos. Use your computer HDMI output or save recordings on an external drive and use an HDMI media player to play recorded videos on HD TV's.

  • DVD ready videos. You can now record videos in DVD format ready to be burned on disc. This eliminates hours of conversion or transcoding.
  • Scheduled recordings. Video recordings can now be scheduled. WM Capture remembers your screen coordinates along with the start/end times of recording.
  • Dual audio recording. Two audio sources can be simultaneously recorded. For example, you can record your voice over a video with audio track.
  • Improved video quality. The new “Best Performance” option allows video frames rates up to 50 frames per second. This is particularly important when recording in DVD format.
  • More video codecs and video formats. MPEG-4 and DVD codecs can now be used as default video formats along with MPEG-2 and Windows Media. AVI files can now be created besides the MPG and WMV. WM Capture can also use other video codecs already installed in your computer (ffdshow, DivX, Xvid, h264, FLV). The recorded video format is AVI.
