Weather Center Changelog

What's new in Weather Center 2.6.6.4

Apr 29, 2011
  • Corrected an error that was preventing the program from starting correctly. This error is only occurring with some locations and not all. This fix will correct the issue if you are experiencing it.

New in Weather Center 2.3.3.3 (Sep 17, 2010)

  • Fixed the issue with the View Current Radar button. If you left the radar window open and changed your location to a location outside the United States and then clicked on the radar window, the window would close as programmed (for US locations only). The problem was the View Current Radar button was still disabled.
  • The View Current Radar menu selection stopped working. This has been reactivated.

New in Weather Center 2.1.1.2 (Jun 14, 2010)

  • Clicking the Weather.com logo will now open your web browser and display the current weather data for your area at Weather.com, which is where you can view your current radar conditions if you live outside of the United States.
  • Made a few adjustments to account for no internet access upon program startup.
  • Updated the UV index spoken text to reflect the new data on UV protection from the SunWise Program information located at http://www.epa.gov/sunwise/uviscale.html. You can access this info by clicking the UV index label on the main program window.
  • I have also made a few adjustments to the spoken text to allow it to sounc more natural. ***Please remember, Weather Center will only work with the Microsoft Natural Text to Speech Engine and Microsoft Voices.
  • The radar will no longer display for locations outside of the United States. This was causing some issue and I do appologize.

New in Weather Center 2.1.1.1 (May 29, 2010)

  • Updated the CIL Software Logo! The old one was ugly!
  • Fixed a few images that were not displaying correctly alongside text with some screen resolutions.
  • Made the new radar window adjustable so depending upon your screen resolution you can now enlarge the window to see the full image instead of using the scroll bars.

New in Weather Center 2.1.1.0 (May 24, 2010)

  • Fixed the label on the Pop Window for weather alerts. If the alert text was too long it would overrun the label and data was cut off.
  • Added the ability to check for updated weather info before speaking the current conditions. Sometimes the update would occur while the weather conditions were being spoken and the spoken data was not current.
  • Added a NEW DOPPLER RADAR WINDOW! I have been able to incorporate Google Maps with the Doppler Radar image overlays. The display is larger than the older one and gives much more information and is interactive. I have labeled the Radar Window BETA due to there may be an unforseen problem pop up that I haven't yet found during testing. There is a button on the window to report a problem with the radar image for your location if an issue is found. The radar will still only work with the fifty United States.
  • Made a few small adjustments to make adding new locations easier. All locations you set will be added to the favorites list. This makes the program easier to use and store location data. You can still remove any location from your favorites list as before.
  • Updated the Help File to reflect the new changes.

New in Weather Center 2.1.0.3 (Apr 19, 2010)

  • This release will correct an issue that I missed in the previous release. The issue would disply "N/A" for the temperature when switching to celsius and would also display "N/A" on startup of the program if celsius is set as your data format.

New in Weather Center 2.1.0.2 (Apr 16, 2010)

  • Fixed an issue with the celsius format conversions that was displaying errors if the weather data file had errors contained within it.

New in Weather Center 2.1.0.1 (Apr 4, 2010)

  • Fixed an issue when the weather data file was incomplete and causing a Microsoft.Net error.
  • When closing the Radar window with the window close button (the 'X') instead of the button labeled 'Close', if you tried to reopen the radar window you would get an error that you can not reopen a disposed window. This has been fixed in this release.

New in Weather Center 2.1.0.0 (Mar 29, 2010)

  • Added the ability to speak the current time and weather conditions.
  • Fixed a few minor issues.
  • This will install for the current user only instead of all users.

New in Weather Center 2.0.0.0 (Mar 1, 2010)

  • This version has a number of bug fixes and program upgrades. The Air Quality feature has been removed from the program due to problems with the Air Now website. The Air Quality information was not being updated on their webserver for over 2 weeks so I decided to remove the feature for the time being.

New in Weather Center 1.0.4.6 (Feb 25, 2010)

  • Adjusted the text areas for the forecast conditions. If the length of the forecast description was too long, it was getting cut off at the beginning and at the end of the area.

New in Weather Center 1.0.4.5 (Feb 25, 2010)

  • When trying to run another instance of this program, instead of getting a message that Weather Center is running, the window will display even if it is hidden from view.
  • Corrected issue when right clicking the temperature icon to change the location, you were unable to display the window again and/or the temp icon would disappear.

New in Weather Center 1.0.4.4 (Feb 25, 2010)

  • Adjusted a few issues with overlapping text when increasing the DPI text size. The maximum DPI setting for this program is 138%, above this there will be difficulty viewing the entire window on the screen and some data may not be visible.
  • Fixed the issue of the new quick view window showing an alert message when the alert had expired.
  • Added support for increased DPI text settings. Now for anyone using a higher DPI for large text size to make the text on the screen more readable if you have poor vision or the normal text setting is just too small to read, Weather Center will resize itself to adjust for these settings.

New in Weather Center 1.0.4.1 (Feb 25, 2010)

  • I have completely recoded the Weather Alerts to correct the recent issues with the alerts.
  • Fixed the issue with the new quick view window not updating the information properly. Also added a Refresh Button.
  • Adjusted how to view the windows; 1 left click to open the quick view window and a double left click to open the main window.
  • When viewing the complete weather alert, you will now be able to see ALL current alerts for your area, not just the current alert. Sometimes weather/amber alerts will overlap each other and now you can view them all.
  • Updated the Help File.
  • Correct a major error with the weather alerts. I corrected an equation that was not correctly evaluating if a weather alert had expired. This could cause the weather alert to not be shown. I do appologize for this inconvenience.

New in Weather Center 1.0.3.9 (Feb 25, 2010)

  • Corrected the link when clicking the Weather.com logo. The CIL Software page was opening instead of Weather.com.
  • Corrected issue with saving a favorite location when the location was outside of the US the program was asking to set up weather/Air Quality alerts. These alerts are US based only.
  • Optimized code to increase the speed of the weather updates and changing the locations.
  • Added a Quick View of the current weather data. To view this new option, click the temperature tray icon once and the Quick View window will appear! To view the main window, right click the temperature icon and select "Open Weather Center".
  • From the context menu (right click menu for the program) you can now change locations without having to open the full display!
  • Fixed issue with the Weather Alerts still displaying the alert after it has expired.
  • Updated the help file to reflect the above changes.
