What's new in ZWCAD 2024

Aug 3, 2023
  • Multi-threading Parallel Computing Optimization:
  • Multi-threading parallel computing is a technique that utilizes the multi-core CPU of a computer to simultaneously execute multiple threads. Today, many computers are equipped with a multi-core CPU. and by taking full advantage of these cores, ZWCAD can have a significant efficiency improvement.
  • We are excited to tell you that in ZWCAD 2024 we have further optimized this technology, enabling ZWCAD to outperform competitors in terms of speed and stability when opening drawings. Whether it's a small project or a complex large-scale project, ZWCAD 2024 loads drawings at an astonishing speed, allowing you to quickly get started. With no more long waits, you can immediately immerse yourself in creativity and design.
  • Hardware Acceleration:
  • Hardware acceleration is a technique that utilizes the graphics processor (GPU) of your computer to speed up graphics processing. By taking full advantage of the processing capabilities of the GPU, it can accelerate the speed of processing complex graphics in CAD software.
  • ZWCAD 2024 introduces hardware acceleration, significantly improving the efficiency of common operations such as zoom in and zoom out. Now, you can seamlessly zoom in and out of large drawings without any delays or lags.
  • Incremental Save:
  • As drawings become increasingly complex, the time required to save large drawings becomes a critical factor affecting design efficiency. ZWCAD 2024 addresses this challenge by introducing incremental save technology. Now, when you modify a drawing and save it, the software will only save the changed parts instead of the entire drawing. This significantly reduces time and accelerates your design workflow.
  • In conclusion, the release of ZWCAD 2024 marks a new era of efficiency. Through Multi-threading optimization, hardware acceleration and incremental save, ZWCAD 2024 elevates the user's design experience to new heights. New in ZWCAD 2023 SP1 (Aug 31, 2022)

  • Efficiency Improvement:
  • For designers and engineers, editing is the most used function in CAD software. When dealing with drawings that contain a large number of entities, it might take plenty of time to perform frequently used commands like Move and Copy. In this version, there is a significant efficiency improvement in basic operations, including Move, Copy, Scale, Rotate, Mirror, Draggeom, and Stretch. Our test shows that, on average, carrying on these basic operations in 2023 SP1 is 47% faster than in 2023 Official.
  • ZWCAD entered the market as a 2D CAD platform and has integrated basic 3D functions to meet the increasing needs for viewing and editing 3D models. In ZWCAD 2023 SP1, the display effect of 3D models has been greatly optimized. For example, in the current version, zooming in 10 times on a 3D model in the Gouraud mode is 70% faster than in ZWCAD 2023 Official.
  • Hatch Upgrade:
  • One of the most-used functions for professionals in the architecture industry is Hatch. In this version, we are dedicated to optimizing its functionality and efficiency. In ZWCAD 2023 SP1, when you create or click a hatch object, the contextual menu will appear on the ribbon for you to adjust the properties of hatches faster and easier. Another new feature in Hatch is real-time preview. When you create a hatch, you can preview the effect by hovering the cursor over the hatch object. In this way, unnecessary rework can be avoided. Plus, “Set Origin” and “Set Boundary” are added to the right-click menu for users to modify the origin point and boundary of hatches conveniently.
  • Import Multiple PDF Pages:
  • Importing multi-page PDF files has long been a big hassle for many CAD software users. In the past, users could only import one page each time and repeat the steps. But now, with this new option, users can select as many pages as they want and import them as CAD objects in one step, saving time in data importing.
  • Collect Mleaders:
  • The “Mleadercollect” command is very useful when the drawing is complicated and there is limited room for adding multileaders. With this new command, users can combine multileaders that contain blocks into a single leader line for better visualization and easier modification. There are three options to place the combined leader: horizontal, vertical and wrap.
  • Cloud Documents:
  • Many designers and engineers often work outside the office and edit their drawings on other devices, which causes laborious manual file transfer between different devices. Powered by reliable cloud service providers, the Cloud Document function enables users to sync their local drawings to the cloud automatically or manually, so users can access their files anytime, anywhere, on any device. When the cloud service is activated, each modification will be synced to the could so users can always get access to the latest version without the hassle of manual transfer.

New in ZWCAD 2011.10.30 Build 17176 (Nov 24, 2011)

  • Design:
  • Parametric Drawing – Shift the Way You Design:
  • Parametric drawing is a definite breakthrough in how we design, for it allows us to take full control of the size, position, and relationship of every object in the drawing. You don’t need to think much about how to start a drawing, just concern yourself with how you’d like it to end.
  • ZWCAD 2011 offers you two types of parametric constraints:
  • Geometric constraints enable you to create relationships between objects, making them behave as a single whole.
  • Dimensional constraints make it easy to change the sizes of objects by simply adjusting their dimensional values.
  • The new Parameter Manager allows you to add and edit parameters, which define the functional relationships among dimensional constraints.
  • MLeader, Table, and Field:
  • These three features work together perfectly. You can use MLeader (multileaders) to mark part numbers in drawings, and then use Table to list all of them. Finally, you can add Field to display drawing information so they will update automatically to show the latest information about the drawing.
  • Solid Profiles:
  • The new Solprof (solid profiling) feature enables you to create profiles of 3D solids with an ease. You can get 2D and 3D profile line, as you prefer. Hidden lines and visible lines can be placed onto different layers automatically.
  • PDF Plotter:
  • Newly integrated into ZWCAD 2011 is PDF plotter, which plots drawings to high quality PDF files. The output supports OLE objects, raster images, gradient hatches, and plot stamps. In addition, the PDF file can contain layer information from the drawing - just like what you see in the original. PDF files make it very convenient to share your drawings with customers, without giving them the originals of your design.
  • PDF Created from ZWCAD Drawing
  • ESnap Improvements:
  • The speed of entity snap acquisition has been improved through the use of a different structure for the snap mechanism. Smart selection highlighting is now supported to highlight the object at which you are pointing. The new magnet snap means that once your cursor moves near a snap marker, it is immediately attracted to the exact snap point.
  • Larger Raster Images:
  • ZWCAD now allows you to insert raster images that are larger than 256MB. The processing of these large images is faster. Also enhanced is the correct insertion of images in PCX format.
  • Reference Editing Improved:
  • The reference editing function has been redesigned in ZWCAD 2011 so that the renewed Refedit command improves both speed and accuracy of in-place reference editing.
  • Dimension Line Breaks:
  • Use any object to break dimension lines automatically, or break the dimension line at any point manually. Despite the gap making the line look broken, the dimension is still a whole. And same command also removes breaks from dimension lines.
  • MText in Attributes:
  • A new kind of attribute is available in ZWCAD 2011, MText. This means that you can now input multiple lines of text in attributes. This is very helpful when you need to specify a lot of information using attributes, such as detailed product descriptions.
  • Online Help:
  • You are no longer alone with out-of-date help documents. Online help is now accessible to every user, no matter the ZWCAD version being used. And all teaching movies are also directly available to watch online, instead of taking lots of time to download them.
