Encript

Encript is a simple and portable application designed to encrypt your text documents using any specified password. It has a decryption feature and only basic options that can be figured out even by users with little or no previous experience in such software.

The entire program's wrapped in a single .exe file that can be copied to a preferred location on the disk or on a USB flash drive, in order to directly run Encript on any PC without setup. It doesn't require DLLs, create files on the disk without asking for approval, or add new entries to the Windows registry. Traditional file removal is enough to uninstall it.

As far as the interface is concerned, the utility opts for a classical window with a simple design and layout, where you can type or paste text just like using a regular text editor, make modifications, change the reading order, show and insert Unicode control characters, as well as undo your actions.

The encryption takes place right after entering and confirming a password. Make sure to remember it, since there's no other way to retrieve the encrypted text. The result is revealed in the main window, replacing the original text. It can be saved to file by specifying the output directory and filename.

In order to decrypt text, all you have to do is paste the encrypted form in the main window, as well as enter and confirm the correct password.

It carried out encryption and decryption tasks quickly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or prompting errors. CPU and RAM usage was minimal, so it didn't hamper system performance. However, Encript hasn't been updated for a long time and doesn't contain more advanced options. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
