MP4-Converter

MP4-Converter is a feature-rich video conversion application that allows users to turn media files into MP4 video files. It can ready files for playback on iPad, iPod, iPhone, PSP and Zune, or convert them into 3GP, WMV, DivX, AAC or MP3 instead of MP4. The program comes packed with advanced settings.

The installation procedure takes little time to finish. As for the interface, MP4-Converter adopts a regular window with a plain and simple structure, where you can add media files to the task list using either the file browser or folder view.

When it comes to output settings, it is possible to specify the destination folder (same as the source or custom), overwrite existing files, select the preferred encoder for audio files (WAV without compression, MP3 MPEG Layer-3, M4A MPEG4 AAC, or WMA Windows Media Audio 9) and compression quality. You can disable automatic conversions and advanced mode, as well as change the UI language, among others. Once conversion is done, it is possible to burn the new tracks to an audio or MP3 CD.

The program did not have significant impact on PC performance in our evaluation, since it ran on low CPU and RAM. It carries out encoding jobs rapidly and delivered quality audio and video files, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error messages in the meantime.

Although it is not designed for novice users, MP4-Converter offers a simple solution to creating MP4 files and other types of audio and video tracks from different formats. It offers support for multiple languages too. Unfortunately, it has not been updated for a while. Plus, the whole package seems a bit expensive.
