Ant Renamer is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you rename multiple files and folders with the aid of various user-defined settings.
It is important to mention that the tool offers support for Unicode encoding operations, so you can rename files that have characters in Greek, Japanese, Chinese, or other languages.
The program sports a clean and intuitive interface that enables you to carry out most operations with minimal effort.
Ant Renamer gives you the possibility to add files and folders to the list using the built-in browse button or “drag and drop” operations.
You can choose between different renaming options that are related to the following operations: extension adjustment, string replacement, multiple string replacement, string insertion, character deletion, enumeration, MP3 tag and Exif info insertion, date and time stamps, regular expression, and other.
Other notable characteristics bundled in this program enable you to preview the selected files, activate the batch mode for executing multiple renaming tasks for the selected items and directories, and log the entire process to a file.
Last but not least, you are allowed to remove the selected items, undo your actions, delete dead files from the list, and export the log to TXT or LOG file format or copy it to the clipboard for pasting it into other third-party utilities.
During our testing we have noticed that Ant Renamer carries out a task pretty quickly. It doesn’t eat up a lot of CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
To sum it up, Ant Renamer proves to be a reliable application that comes bundled with a handy set of features for helping you rename files and folders.
What's new in Ant Renamer 2.12:
- Option (disabled by default) to consider the last "." in folder name as extension delimiter. Previous versions were always considering that a folder could have an extension, but that's commonly used.
- When folders are renamed, the path of files in the list is updated if needed. Previous versions were giving an error as files contained by renamed folders were not found anymore.
- "Case sensitive" option in the "Multiple string replace" action.
- A few bugs fixed.
