Google Maps Downloader

Google Maps Downloader is pretty much what this application does, not only what it is named. In other words, you can find and create maps for offline use based on the data collected through the Google Maps application.

Before actually creating any file, you can adjust and customize your selection to give the best possible results, allowing you to end up with the final product you desired in the first place.

Now, the program does give on the opportunity to change the resulting offline map files, from their name to the type of illustrated map, to zoom level, and finally to the exact coordinates to be taken into consideration when cropping the globe for you.

I had to add the left and right longitude as well as the top and bottom latitude to be able to grab what I wanted to use with a mapping project. This is great if you're trying to create terrain maps and need some sort of guide in your endeavor. It worked out just fine in my case.

Do keep in mind that you need to alter the save path to something that fits your purpose more. The application will also keep track of the total images created and the number of projects you've downloaded successfully.

A log window will keep track of all the actions this application takes, ultimately allowing the user to backtrack if any issues arise. I found the whole process to be trouble, and it made me think about using it with other mapping projects I've got going on.

Google Maps Downloader is worth keeping your eyes on if you often find yourself working with projects that include creating maps or simply creating regional reference guides, which in the end are based on maps and mapping projects.
