Hash Generator

Hash Generator is a straightforward piece of software that calculates various types of checksums for files and plain text. It does not comprise complicated settings, making the program suitable to all user levels.

Installing the app is optional, since there is also a portable edition included in the pack. The latter option enables you to copy the executable file to a custom location on the HDD and just click it to run.

Alternatively, you can drop Hash Generator to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer effortlessly and without previously installing anything.

What's more, the Windows registry does not get updated with new keys, and no files are created on the hard disk without your consent.

The interface is made from a regular window with a plain and intuitive structure, where you can point out a file using either the browser or drag-and-drop method.

The checksums are immediately generated and displayed in the main frame. These are ADLER-32, CRC-32, RIPEMD-160, MD-2, MD-2, MD-5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512, HAVAL-256-4, and WHIRLPOOL. Apart from the hash value, you may also view its length. Similarly, you can identify the signatures for written text. This information can be exported to HTML, TXT or XML for further scrutiny.

The simple-to-use tool runs on low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect overall performance. It works fine, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. We have not come across any issues in our tests. Hash Generator serves its purpose and can be easily used by anyone.
