Resource Explorer

Resource Explorer is a tool developed for programmers which allows them to view the contents of files of various formats, including EXE, DLL, SYS, OCX, SCR and AMC.

The app is wrapped in a plain and uncomplicated interface where the features are pretty limited. Loading a file into the environment can be done by using only the file browser because the 'drag and drop' method is not supported.

You can check out multiple resources of files, such as the content of the MUI, TYPELIB, UIFILE and WEVT_TEMPLATE folders, icons and versions. In the right pane you can check out the name, offset and size for each entry, or the hexadecimal code.

As we have mentioned before, Resource Explorer provides limited features for users. Besides exporting the information to a Bitmap, icon, cursor or other format, you may also disable the status bar and pick another viewing mode between large icons, small icons, list or details.

The program runs on a low quantity of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't be a concern to the computer's resources. It is very responsive to keyboard strokes and mouse events. Unfortunately, you cannot copy a piece of information from the resources. But we must keep in mind the fact that Resource Explorer has not been updated for a very long time.
