Just because you can easily download almost any picture from the web, doesn’t exactly mean they’re yours, and you’re free to do whatever you will with them. However, you can secure your own creations when posted online by adding a watermark layer, and is exactly the kind of task you can achieve when using Watermarker.NET.

Just like the name might suggest, the application was built using the .NET Framework technologies, which means you require the component for the application to run. On the other hand, you can take the application with you on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well, because there’s no setup involved, while registries kept intact.

The main window is pretty compact, and although it may seem a little confusing at first, spending a little time to look over the set of features reveals it’s not something to worry about. Most of the space is taken up by the preview area, but it’s not filled with anything even after you load pictures, until you press the dedicated button to get it updated.

A second pane on the main window holds all options you get to manage in order to apply a custom watermark. However, you can only add text watermark, and the way it’s handled can be a little tricky at first. Positioning is done on the preview pane by adjusting a couple of sliders, and since font size is handled in a different field, and doesn’t get updated until you say so, the process is more time-consuming than it is difficult.

The application gives you the possibility to process more pictures at a time, but again, with a catch. Only the first picture is shown in the preview pane, while text options are the same for all pictures, but if resolution differs, it can have a significant impact on style. What’s more, the text you add can’t be made transparent, so you need to work your way around this issue.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Watermarker.NET is a handy little utility you can use to secure pictures you create, so nobody can steal and assume they own them. However, the overall process of configuring and positioning text can be a little frustrating, not to mention working with multiple pictures of different resolution settings.
