jPDF Tweak

jPDF Tweak is a Java Swing software application which helps people, as the name hints at, edit PDF documents.

This utility does not require installation, meaning it is not going to update with new entries the Windows registry and Start menu/screen.

In addition to that, you can copy the program files to any location on the hard drive and click the executable in order to run it from there. It is also possible to use jPDF Tweak on any computer you have access to, by dropping the aforementioned files to a portable storage unit.

The interface sports a classical design, reminiscent of the Windows 98 and 95 operating systems. Aside from that, it is built on several tabs, and therefore enabling quick access to all the options available.

This software tool lets you upload multiple files at a time, only it does not feature the “drag and drop” function. The latter is considered to be a setback, as it would have helped users manage items even faster.

You can crop PDFs to MediaBox, CropBox, BleedBox, ArtBox, rotate both portrait and landscape pages, as well as scale them by choosing a size from a built-in list or by inputting the width and height.

Watermarks can be added, either as a customizable transparent text or the first page can be used as a background watermark. It is possible to change chapter bookmarks, by importing them from another PDF or from a CSV file.

Attachments and page transitions can be appended, document info can be modified and they can be password-protected using RC4 and AES ciphers, while also choosing permissions (print, edit, copy, fill in, modify annotations etc.).

To conclude, although there are some small flaws in jPDF Tweak’s interface, it offers a feature-rich environment, good response time and minimal CPU and memory usage.
