Appupdater

Appupdater is a software application whose purpose is to help you install and maintain up-to-date versions of programs based on an online repository.

You are welcomed by a clean and intuitive layout that reveals a list with programs. The utilities can be sorted by different criteria, such as all, installed, new, or available updates, or up-to-date programs.

It reveals information about each entry from the repository, such as name, installed version, available version, website, description, and license.

Appupdater gives you the option to view detailed information about each available version (e.g. version number, license, manual install instructions, locations), pick the preferred version that you want to download and install, as well as manually install or uninstall program versions.

What’s more, you are allowed to download and install all updates, compute hashes for a certain file from your system, and keep a log.

Tests have shown that the application is quite fast in updating the online repository and scanning the tools that are installed on your computer. However, it eats up CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the system may be hampered.

Appupdater lets you set up a list with online repositories from where the information is grabbed, configure security settings (e.g. require or request signature, automatically download and install public keys), automatically download and install new versions, and tweak proxy parameters.
