Secure Message

Secure Message is an offline solution for users interested in encrypting messages first and then sending them out or storing them. Six algorithms will help you secure your data behind any password. The program also helps with decrypting protected items, and its portability aspect is a plus for on-the-go tasks.

Because most of the operation is based on written or pasted text, there is not much worry about operational-wise. Use the message area to lay down your word. Come up with a password, and jot it down inside the designated field. Both the message and password panes keep count of the total number of characters.

Once the message and combination are in place, go to the toolbar and click Encrypt. Before encrypting, however, it would be wise to select an algorithm. The default one is called Nominal and offers 480-bit protection. Besides Nominal, you can choose to go with Variable 360 bit, Low 984 bit, medium, 2072 bit, High 4056 bit, and Extreme with 8000 bit.

After the message is scrambled beyond recognition, you have two choices. Either copy and paste that to an environment of your choosing or save it locally as TXT.

To decrypt a message, you must use the same program. The sole requirement for decryption is the same password used for encryption, so make sure you store your combination in a secure location, as the program does not offer a password manager.

As for the Options menu, that is useful in changing the looks of the app, nothing more. If you prefer a new background color, different frames, or font, there are plenty of variations to choose from.

Secure Message delivers what it advertised. Indeed, there may be more advanced tools out there for this particular task, but if this one peaked your interest, it is worth the shot. You might be pleasantly surprised by how simple the whole operation is.
