When first starting the program you will have to configure your account, give it a name and a password to have the incoming mail scanned (optionally the outgoing mail can be scanned). 

SpamButcher allows you to have multiple accounts which can be changed or removed in the Accounts window. 

In the general options of SpamButcher you can choose how often you want the application to check the account and report the results. 

In the Known Senders window you can add the trusted e-mail addresses from or to which the messages will not be filtered. Also you can do the opposite, instructing SpamButcher to intercept messages from specific addresses. 

SpamButcher allows you to customize the level of security desired by configuring the filters as conservative, normal or aggressive and block dangerous attachements.
