Sunrise Seven

Sunrise Seven is a practical piece of software that allows you to make some modifications to Windows 7. It can be easily installed and handled.

The interface of the tool is clean and intuitive. You can make quick adjustments, such as configuring the start menu and shell, placing a small space between icons, turning off hibernation mode, removing the arrows from the shortcuts icons, as well as disabling autoplay and the 'Low Disc Space' notification.

You can configure some User Account Control security options (e.g. run all administrators in 'Admin Approval Mode', elevate without prompting, prompt for consent), and increase the system performance by turning off Data Execution Prevention, disabling automatic folder type discovery, turning off services (e.g. Offline Files, Superfetch, Print Spooler) and by adjusting reaction times (e.g. menu speed, waiting time to process shutdown).

Additional security options allow you to disable Task Manager, Registry Editor, Folder Options, Control Panel, Windows Update, Desktop Gadgets and Internet access for DRM (just to name a few), while you can integrate various tools into the Explorer context menu, such as Notepad, Calculator, Windows Firewall and Network Connections. It is also possible to edit OEM information, customize the shell, start menu and task bar, and to create a list of applications for quick access.

Sunrise Seven requires a moderate amount of system resources and didn't cause us any issues during our tests, like freezing, crashing or popping up error dialogs. Unfortunately, it does not integrate a search function, considering its wide range of customization options. Fortunately, experienced users should be pleased with Sunrise Seven.
