VLC Media Player's General Video Settings tab allows you to customize various video rendering properties. 

In VLC Media Player's Playlist Preferences tab, you can choose to play files randomly for ever, repeat all, play and stop or automatically preparse files. 

The Hotkeys Settings tab lets you specify keyboard shortcuts for the commands that you use very often.
