The main window allows you to simply input the desired word in the search field and the results will come up in seconds. You can revisit the search history using the panel on the left. 

When you click the Favorites button you can see the files you chose to appear in this section and you can also add or remove more photos. 

If you are not satisfied with the filmstrip view, you can always change that by pushing the Set ListView Mode button. This is thumbnail view. 

The Favorite menu lets you select the Move option so as to add photos to the Favorite folder or another one in that section.
