| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | I like it very much. i think its better than comercial programs! Compared id to NOD32 and F-secure (using my own collection of programs and games cracks that are full of viruses and trojans) and it hs a better detection rate than both of them. And it doesnt use much resources too. Relatively fast scan. Really great. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | With the net becoming more "infested" as time goes by, i now use two different virus scanners. AntiVir being one of them. i really like this scanner. it seem antiquated in terms of GUI and i cant seem to work out how to scan directories only, not the whole drive. Having said that the detection rate seems well above average for a free scanner. TOP MARKS. I heard a rumor you could run this scanner from a USB flash drive, and its true, at least for me. I have 2 computers at home. I just plug the 'AntiVir usb flash drive' in and it scans. I can even update AntiVir from the net from the usb drive. Well worth the download. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | I've use it on different types of machines and OS. Unfortunatelly it skips some viruses or trojans and has sometime difficulties with updating. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | I decided to try this program on a fresh install of Compaq's version of Windows XP Home edition. Installation and set up went very smooth but then I noticed a very noticable drop in my computers response time. It was even slower than my "emegency standby 233mhz machine." After some serious and frustrating looks into what was going on I concluded that AntiVir is a very serious memory hog. Soooo... if you have 512meg of memory or better this looks like a nice product. Less than that I suggest you look at a different program. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I have used Antivir for several years now. It has been very good to me. I have an XP/dial-up and it updates every two weeks. This can be a slow process.
I also have Win95/dial-up and that is really slow. Lately i can't get the active guard to work on 95 so it is useless to me there in that way.
From time to time Antivir does have its little glitches which can be frustrating, but up to this time it has done me very well.
This latest not being able to activate the guard on '95 has caused me to drop it off that machine.
I think it is a very good checker and remover(when it finds something). Support is difficult, but for a free offering ... it gives a lot of protection. |
