i have been using Norton for quite a few years now but at the same time i tried almost every well known AV.I can tell that only 1 or 2 of them are of quality of competing Norton but original is only one....Norton!!!

Till date i use to blame norton a lot. but this time they have kept there promise. its the superb way ahead of others, the fastest scanning among all, great heuristics to detect viruses in advance, others block after detection, streaming defs, updates every 5 min, low CPU usage, rather there is a CPU usage meter to indicate the CPU used by norton, Execellent product this time from Symantec. Hats off

Horrid program, acts more like a virus that you can not remove. I'm an experienced support person and Norton products are very bad, worse than useless because they trick people into thinking they are protected. Just this week I've recovered 4 computers with the Norton infection, Norton failure miserably by not stopping spyware, worms, trojans.

I paid for a 3 year antivirus program and now I don't have a download but access to trial versions of software. Yet I was on the Noeton site!!!!

It's surprising that some of you couldn't get protected by this software while you could with KAV, MCAFEE, NOD32 and others. You won't believe that I had the same situation vice versa: My girldfriend's computer was infected by some ****so internet explorer, explorer and some other programs could't work. It was horrible. So I tried NOD32, Avast, Kaspersky.. none of them helped. NOD32 was the only AV which did find something but couldn't remove it. I was just about to reinstall Windows Vista, but then tried NAV, and guess what - computer came back to the normal operating state. I guess there are many malware that can be found not by all of the AVs and NAV isn't that exeption in all of the cases.

They've improved the speed of newer versions drastically so now it no longer brings your computer to a halt. Finally simplified it so it can open the GUI without having to wait two minutes. Still could be easier to use and faster to open but let's face anti-virus is a requirment not an option so I'll stick with this or McAfee for the foreceable future.

norton is the finest example of trash. freebies like antivir personal edition free and avast home edition have better detection, and better protection.

only people who have tried nothing else live by norton. that is unless you like paying for a product that does worse then the freebies. i should know, i used to use norton. when i got a bad virus, i scanned using norton and it found nothing. soon after norton got destroy by the virus and then surfing became near impossible. as a last resort i used a trial of mcafee and the avg free edition and guess what? they found and removed what norton couldnt.

Now im on with antivir personal edition free. It detects just about everything and warns about potential malware more then norton ever did. norton is junk that people pay for. its like paying for polluted water with a name on it people feel they can trust.

I dont rate this very high.

While many free programs offer superior protection for alot less resources, Norton often comes in suites.
But even then, you will want other free software that does a far superior job aswell

I have been using Norton for the past 6 years,not only Norton,I have testing all the softwares and found that the Norton is best.Their upgrades and updates are excellent..Keep the good work Norton..I cant receommend you any other anti virus software except NORTON

It is a good and saving the time as well as not giving chane to enter any virus in pc.

Was recommended by inlaws and so found to be great.

If you install eDonkey without disconnecting from the internet, the installed viruses/spywares crash it, so you have to reinstall the whole software and all the updates, and all symantec programs you use. Use NOD32 AV and Look'n'Stop firewall instead. They're much more better.

the best antivirus is kaspersky ; i tried all o of them ... after using norton several years , panda , macfee , etc ; Only bitdefender is close ... one of my friends had macfee instaled , and when it came to me with his hardrive i found that macfee and the whole system was infected ... so KAV rulz !!!

All this software has going for it is the Name.

Norton is a well known name in the industry, in education and amongst consumers.

My brother at college was required to install Norton AV Corporate...
Many schools and businesses require this.

Other than that, the software is worthless when compared to the likes of Kaspersky or F-Secure (both on the same AV engine).

When i first changed to Kaspersky, my system was fine...running fine.
I installed Kaspersky cause i was curious. I ran a scan and found like 20 trojans that Norton never saw...it was amazing.

I later saw an indepth test of AV scanners. Norton suffers big time in the Trojan area. Overall, Kaspersky and F-Secure SMOKE Norton in terms of detection.
Beleive me, it wasnt only my computer that had infections when changing over to Kaspersky. My mom's computer...regarded as the cleanest computer ive ever used (solely by me of course)...has stuff Kaspersky saw but Norton didnt...i was shocked.

Overall...great name, but it gets smoked by the liked to Kaspersky and F-Secure. I dontn recommend this software to anyone anymore, because of this fact of getting beat by Kaspersky and the sort.

DO NOT BUY PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAUSE IT MADE MY INTERNET EXPLORER STOP WORKING ITS JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
