This software, while not updated on a constant basis, updates with every AIM upgrade.
So iif you see a new AIM upgrade, expect a new AIM Ad Hack.
The software is brilliant. It gives users excellent choices on how to modify the AIM install.
Most importantly it automatically removes the "spyware" and "adware" that comes with AIM.
I put Spyware and Adware in quotes because its not generally classified as being heavily intrusive. Its 4 pieces of software...thats all...
Viewpoint Media Player
WildTangent
AIM Search Toolbar
WeatherBug
The search toolbar...its not SPYWARE, but who wants this when u have GoogleToolbar...? Besides, you arent asking for it.
ViewPoint media player...ive never actually used this, and i dont know how AIm makes use of it either...but who needs it?
WildTangent...this one is interesting. AIM supports GAMES...which are dumb and require u to pay, but WildTangent isnt SPYWARE. Its the software required to run the games...but its kind crappy and not needed, since the games are crap. So might as well chuck it.
WeatherBug...its just terrible. There are other softwares out there that are better. Hell, just put a shortcut to www.weather.com on your desktop...thats what i have!
It also gives users the options to change the logo in the signon screen, which i choose not to do, option to remove the games button, and options to remove certain toolbars, most importantly the Games toolbar and the AD toolbar area at the top of the Buddy List.
It also gives you an option to implement cloning, which when implemented, will allow you to run AIM.exe as many times you want in memory. But with that it messes up AIM hyperlink support.
When you click, say, a link to message someone from, say, softpedia profiles, itll opena window saying AIM needs to be signed on, and then opena new copy of AIM asking your login information , even though you are fully signed on in another instance of AIM.exe. The developer knows this, and leaves that note in the installer next to the cloning option.
Whats nice is that you dont even need to download AIM anymore. Just download this when its updated for the new AIM version. AIM Ad Hack has the ability to automatically download and install AIM...its amazing.
5/5...highly recommended for AIM users. |
