| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | Well, All I can say is they it needs ALOT of work done on the GUI, apart from that it is a very good download manager and it can download at my internet's full speed. |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I must say i am dissapointed with the editor's review. Especially with the marks. He says "It has so many functions, you start getting antsy wanting to play with the different settings. A scheduled download starter and stopper, preferential settings on Download speeds, quick-synch options and much more. And believe me, if you have the time to sit back and set everything up correctly, it’s worth your time."
And after that he gives to features area only a 3 star rating... How logical is that? |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | This was the very first download manager i ever used...this was back in, oh 1996 or something? I dont remember, but Ive known about this software and used it for a long long time.
But the last time i used this software i really didnt think it compared very well with all the other alternatives available today.
Sure, it does all your standard things a download manager should do...
download...multiple threads...etc.
I just prefer the FlashGet/FreeDownloadManager interface over this one...
But thats not to say GetRight is terrible.
Its actually a pretty good download manager and has a lot of things going for it.
The first thing it has going for it is that it provides the BEST looking clone to the internet explorer download window, while still giving getright options. Im speaking of the window where you are asked to save a file...giving it a name and a location. GetRight cloned that very well.
The other thing which i still cant get enough of, and still smile about, is how GetRight shows these moving pictures of a chain link revolving while your download is going (get it? Web Link - Chain Link...???). I can just watch that all day long.
The other thing it has going for it is FileMirrors.com. FileMirrors.com is a mirroring service that is completely user-built. You are probably saying: "I never contributed to it...so how is it uder built?" Well GetRight tracks the links of your downloads and indexes them over at FileMirrors.com. So if you download a file from SoftPedia through getright, theres a good chance itll show up when you search for the same file at filemirrors.com. You may be thinking it is a breach of privacy, but the system is completely optional and can be turned off and on in the options.
In comparison, FlashGet tried the same deal with their mirror service, URLShare.com or ShareURL.com, and i think it stinks.
Other than that, GetRight is just another pay-ware download manager...which I think is a little bloated.
There are definitely better FREE alternatives out there...
4/5 on the overall ratings because its not free. |
