| GUI:   Features: Ease of use: Value: |  | Ok, this is very easy: Foobar is not for housewives, beginners, people who like nice looking player out of the box. It's not even for the regular PC-user.
BUT, this is the ONLY piece of audio-player around with extreme customization capabilities. YOU decide how it will behave. And that's the beauty of this little app. I can do thing's with this baby that NO other audio-player can.
If you rate foobar poorly, you probably don't understand why it's made the way it is. |

Fact that some have other then yours opinion on subject doesn't mean that they are "noobs", "idiots" etc. It just mean that form theirs perspective thighs look different. The main reason of personal reviews of application, here on Softpedia is to give us-users ability to express our fillings on app. I doesn't mean you must agree with them :)

I was reviewed version 0.9.4.2 of foobar2000 in which volume bar was absent as seen on screenshot:

I must admit thou that in version 0.9.5.2 volume bar is present by default. What a progress ;)
Anyway, i still don't recommend installing this app. Instead you could try AIMP2. I'm pretty sure you will fall in love :) |

handles big playlists with ease unlike other players.
plays a lot of codecs
very customizable, you can change anything from the playlist look, to buttons, to context menu, etc

In the case of foobar. what you give up in prettiness you make up for in practicality (v0.9.5 does represent a huge leap in making foobar look presentable however with a quick GUI setup wizard). Foobar can handle my large music library brilliantly whilst using minimal resources on my aging system. And that'll do me. It's even got a volume bar now ;) |

| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I personally love the simplistic GUI. It is very custimiseable allowing display of tags in columns - even album covers. Not at all easy to customise but doable.
Player has volumne control as standard. Num+ and Num-. The volume is displayed in lower right corner.
Powerful features:
- Playback of several different audio formats.
- Replaygain support across all formats.
- APEtagging of MP3 files.
- Mass tagger
- Mass renamer
- Gapless playback (on audio formats that support this: Wav, FLAC, vorbis, WavPack, Monkey's Audio, possible more).
- Software resampler (great if you own a sound card that ruins sound quality by resampling - i.e. SB Live)
Missing Features:
- Support for remote control.
- Web access to player.

To put it into prespective, I left foobar running for an hour and in Filemon, There had been well over 900,000 read writes to the drive, at which rate the drive would have failed prematurley. |
