| Winamp 5 Full 5.36 Build 1500 Beta |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I don't like winamp. This player is for lamers. I use RealPlayer 11 premium that have good sound, open most used file types, have a lot of plugins...
If you want to try old winamp versions, you can found it here:

| Winamp 5 Full 5.3.1 |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | Might be one of the programs I've used the longest for one specific reason (playing music). I've tried plenty of other programs for this, but nothing beats Winamp in my opinion. One thing though, there are alot of nice Winamp Modern skins out there, but I have never gotten used to any of them (seem too big) so I'm using still Winamp Classic skin with it on top of my screen (minimized). Got many nice plugins for playing additional formats. |

| Winamp Full 5.25 Build 868 Beta |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | But it sounds wack. |

| Winamp Full 5.2 |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | By far the best audo player around, even though AOL now owns it. I used foobar for a couple of weeks and was satisfied until I looked at the ammount of disk read/writes that it did. Around a million a hour, which is far too much for my hard drive lovin self.
Anways Tokar, winamp was origianly developed by Justin Frankel heres a little biography: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justin_Frankel
Heres his blog: http://www.justinfrankel.com/ |

| Winamp Full 5.2 Build 440 Beta |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Excuse my mistake. I got two AOL-puchased softwares confused.
ICQ was the software originally developed by a couple Israeli's that AOL purchased.
WinAMP was purchased by AOL...and I actually dont know who developed it originally...I mean I know its NULLSOFT, but I don't know much about them. |

| Winamp 5.08e Full |
| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Its the best media player ever made.
I dont notice much differences between Winamp 5.XX and 2.XX, except that AOL develops 5.XX where as 2.XX was when it was in the hands of the original Israeli developers.
Its fast, its light, and all the old Winamp 2.XX plugins work with it (where as Winamp 3.XX required a plugin to make 2.xx plugins work).
THe pro upgrade is kind of useless. Most notably it gives you CD ripping and CD burning at speeds above 1x or 2x (cant recall which speed it is). But it doesnt matter. Go and download a freeware Audio CD Burner like CDBurnerXP or something and you will never need Pro.
Full vs Lite just gives you video support and a few extra nicities which are also in the Pro version.
Best media player...get it now.
By the way...
AOL released WinAMP 5.08e after the news that you could use the WMA ability to "hack" napster. So if you install 5.08e over 5.08d you will be using the "fixed" WMA plugin that wont let you rip DRM protected music. BUT, with the news of AOL doing this, people modified and released the plugin that came with 5.08e and its easily found on google...so DRM "hacking" is back in order.
(Hacking is in quotes because its not REALLY hacking...its just some way to get around it). |
