One of its strongest points is the excellent printed / graphical output even in complex scores. Notes, ties, slurs, position dots and accidentals are manually adjustable - they can be tweaked and nudged into position if needed.
MusEdit has one of the most flexible entry systems around - like a musical word processor, so improvisation and workarounds are possible for advanced users. User input is also fast using keyboard shortcuts.
If you are a guitarist this is the reasonably-priced but fully-featured program you have been looking for. Users get a monthly newsletter and the developer is a guitarist himself, so understands the instrument's particular notational requirements.
However the program caters for all musical instruments. I can recommend it to stringed instrument players, drummers and choral enthusiast. Very good for songsheets (in any style - pop, classical, church, folk etc). |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | This download is the free version, and you can't save files, but I have the full version, which I got 10 years ago and never looked back. It's totally worth it, the company gives free upgrades for life, and it's come a LONG way in 10 years and there are more features coming. MusEdit prints very professional looking charts and has lots of flexibility. I don't need any other notation software.
Music XML compatibility is supposed to be coming in the next version, but don't wait, because the upgrade is free. |

And I write this not as a drummer or guitarist--my main thing is vocal music and recorder. It's great for tweaking arrangements for performance. Our church choir director uses it for notating out his arrangements for the choir. |
