I had this for the short time Vista was installed on my new laptop. Although it works great with my media buttons and play video / audio fairly well, it was hard to organize songs [I'm not into wasting time making playlists or stuff, I just want to play an album!] and it skipped ALL THE TIME.

I looked this up and apparently it's some DRM thing where it's checking to see if I'm pirating something or other. This makes it slow down playing at the end of every song, and it takes a while just to load a single song.

I use VLC for basically every thing now, and Amarok under Linux. Amarok has basically the same features, a better interface, and it doesn't suck.

VLC unfortunately doesn't seem to work with my media buttons on my keyboard, but it's better than any Microsoft crud.

when I try to list just songs, I get albums - sometimines w/o songs listed. PLEASE, if anyone knows how to just list SONGS in library, TELL ME HOW TO DO IT. THX

When songs are shown in the Library they seem to be in random order under each artist. If you want an alphabetical sort of artists or albms songs all you have to do is click anywhere in the Title box from any view (Icon, Expanded Tile, or Details) There is nothing in the Help area or anywhere else that I can see that shows how to do this. Took me forever to stumble on it. Hope this helps somebody. Note that you can toggle between A to Z and Z to A

Joli, the Softpedia reviewer, sounds like she read a Microsoft writeup on Media Player 11 and spewed it back for our reading pleasure. Geez.

My personal experience with the Vista version (running on a Dell 1705 laptop with 2GB RAM, C2D 2 Ghz, and a 7200 RPM hard drive) has been very disappointing. Every song I play "skips", whether on CD or on the local hard drive. Look and feel of it is okay, and the controls are easy to work. But then, when have the controls of ANY version of WMP been difficult to work? A passable product for me, IF IT WORKED PROPERLY.

(some of us don't use xp and its backdoor services)
if someone knows of a version of wmp 10 or 11 that will actually install and run on win2k, let me know!

It's Good And Not Bad Microsoft.

MAJOR ISSUE: This version does NOT recognize the storage card on my Pocket PC. It recognizes the Pocket PC main memory and iPaq File Store (a sort of non-volatile memory partition) but not my SD storage card.

Microsoft Windows Media Player 11 is a beta version of a basic player in Windows that is scheduled to be installed in Windows Vista.
It absorbs in the design compared with the version before, and it can be said that the interface is very beautiful.

However, there is functionally a point that is inferior to the version before, and it becomes an evaluation of expecting it of development thereafter.

I did not find the internet radio in this jukebox. Could you please be sports and tell me if you did find it.

Best version yet.
Has a new style, dosn't take up as much ram and cpu. Its just perfect.

Starts a bit faster on my pc (of feels like)
A big drawback for me is that it doesn't delete the file that you're playing from the playlist from the hdd when deleted with "shift" pressed and doesn't resume next element in the queue if you delete the one you're playing from the playlist. Yeah sounds like a lot of blah blah - but it was a very useful function for me to sort audio and video materials... Design I kind of like.

Nothing here but a new design and new Library view modes, which is nice - don't get me wrong, but I don't think it justifies a new major version change....

I have tested the preview and here are my personal findings :

The GUI-look feels very "hard/agressive" : I don't like lt too much, but OK that's only a first impression, maybe I need some time to get used to it.
For the rest, congratulations all over.

One big problem though : impossible to connect to online music stores like music.msn.com !!
Is there a known problem with this, or is it something that I should do to make this work ?
