The program has become the best way to convert to divx avi. Even does a good job with automatic cropping.
If you have to edit the video or use filters, then VirtualDub is better. VirtualDub works conveniently only with single pass, so Dr. Divx's 2-pass default produces better quality.
Just be sure to go to the Advanced tab and, in addition to choosing Insane quality, you'll have to increase the rate to keep the video at the same quality.
You can't do that with the Converter, another reason Dr Divx is better.
You may also have to use a slider to return the file to its original size. Dr Divx is likely to want to shrink the picture.
By the way, to avoid the Divx watermark, use Divx Configuration under Start / Divx.
It works with flv files.
