Micro$oft can rot. Since Autopatch has been sunk by M$ . I have converted 15 friends to LINUX ...they are very happy with mandriva and OpenSuse. |

The 'Core Release' is ~332 MB
To avoid confusion, since smaller 'Update' versions are also available, it would be a good idea show the sizes in a different form (e.g. 39.1 - 332.1).

I was a bit miffed to see that I had to download almost 300MB this time around when I do not even need half of the updates included!
Anyway, they have changed the software a bit but it still does the same job for me...updates my XP PC without having to deal with crappy M$ websites!

| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Thanks for the info Nozavi. Autopatcher for XP has saved me many hours of downloading updates on XP installs and in the past couple of months the new updates from MS are getting more and more. This program is a real timesaver.
As far as the last review from Aiman Tarek is concerned, it sounds like your boot files are corrupt or an update is conflicting with a file that is trying to boot. If you can, try booting into safe mode (F8 key while booting). If you can get there try a system restore from here to the date prior to your update. Don't quote me on this method as I always turn off system restore but I went into safe mode on my computer and tried the system restore and it seemed like it would work but in my case told me it was turned off. If system restore does not work from safe mode you might try running msconfig and turn off some startup items one by one to see if there is a conflict in some boot files. If you can't boot into safe mode you may have a reinstall ahead of you |

Hope this will be updated soon as not everyone is going to Vista and this was such an excellant program for updating XP. Does anyone know of a similar program to Autopatcher that is up to date?? |

Secondly, if you payed attention, you would read the following: "Although made with Windows XP SP2 (English) in mind, AutoPatcher XP will load on any Windows version or language, showing only the items which match the running environment.". That means that it was made for English Windows, and it will load modules for the running environment. If it doesn't load any, is because it didn't find any matching modules.
@ markh: We aren't talking about Neowin here, just AutoPatcher. |
