Im sorry, but I do not like the 4.0 line of builds from Google Toolbar. I still use the last 3.0 version.

Yes, this is still Google Software, but I do not like the new interface and the change in the history menu of the search bar.
They chose to remove a lot of nice little things I would use on the daily basis...as well as change around a few interface things here and there. I was very upset.

Stick to version 3.0...it wont hurt you to.

Every scientist will alwaysbe happy to express their opinions on whether the chicken or the egg came first.
While I dont think computer techies argue the origins of software like scientists argue such questions about life on earth, but the question of the origins of the Internet Explorer toolbars is probably one that most people couldnt answer.

Did google come first? Did Yahoo!? Or did spyware invent this idea of putting a search toolbar?
I dont know and I dont care to find out.
All I care about is that Google has a toolbar to compete in this market. I dont know how much of a market really exists, but the fact that google continuously updates this toolbar software says something.

The toolbar is the best I have experienced.
Then again, I havent tried many because im so jaded by Google Toolbar...its just that good.

Version 2 had a more Windows 98 kind of look to it.
Version 3, which is quite new, has a more Windows look to it, with all the brighter colors.

But its not just the look that got an overhaul...
A lot of new features have been added ON TOP OF the current set of features. And the way it looks, all the other major players are playing catch-up to google as google implements newer and cooler features. Im sure its been this way for a while sometime.

As Winston Zedmore in Ghostbusters said after defeating Zeul...
"We've got the tools and we've got the talent!." Google not only has the tools to further develop their toolbar (as in money), but they have the programming talent to do so as well...and it shows.

If one goes to the Version 3 beta toolbar website the new features are listed:
Spellcheck
Translator
AutoLink

SpellCheck is pretty self explanatory.
Translator is really neat if you want to learn a new language. Just check the llanguage you want in the options and all you have to do is hover your mouse over a particular word and a balloon pops up with the word in that language with the pronunciation. I got a little tired of it, since i dont care to learn a new language right now...too busy.
AutoLink is apparently something you can use to turn a street address from a webpage into a map, probably using Google's new mapping feature.

There are other default features as well...
Searching not only google.com, but all the subdivisions of google, like Google Images, Google Videos, etc.
Then theres the highlight text, which will highlight the up-to-10-items you searched for easy locating.
Theres a new thing, well maybe its not new, but i havent see it, rating tool. Its two buttons...Smile and Frown. Smile is a thumbs up type rating, and the Frown is a thumbs down type rating. Im guessing they use that to determine the Page Rank...which I might note is something a lot of people use to gauge different sites.
Theres the popup blocker, which has all but been made obsolete since the advent of the Internet Explorer PopUp blocker after installation of SP2. Once in a blue moon the google toolbar will block a popup that Internet Explorer either doesnt catch or doesnt get to before Google Toolbar does.

At some point in the future I wouldnt be surprised if Google Toolbar comes standard with Internet Explorer, just because of the sheer volute of people who use it.

Its a great addon to Internet Explorer and I highly recommend it to all.
Hell, its so good and so feature full that it made all those FireFox users run in circles trying to make a plugin that mimiced the toolbar to a T, until of course someone did make one...which I must say is a pretty good reproduction of it.
But nothing beats the original for INTERNET EXPLORER.
