Ive never seen the critical temperature alarm system in the options...
whatever...makes the program even better.
Hmm experimental supprt for more than 4 HD's...well i only have 3, and 2 of them are S.M.A.R.T. capable...so I will never get to test this out.
Whats better about this program, when compared to HDDLife (besides being completely free and having no advertising in the free version for the payware PRO version), is that when this program polls the hard drive temperatures, it does it quite silently. You can set the refresh rate to 1 second and itll still seem like nothing it happening. HDDLife on the other hand, when it polls the temperature it seems like the computer is refreshing everything...desktop icons and all...its REALLY annoying.

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Very nice, lightweight HDD Tempoerature monitor.
The program reads tempertaures of Hard Drives which support S.M.A.R.T. For some odd reason it doesnt pick up the fact that my Quantum Fireball 60GB hard drive, my main C: drive, is S.M.A.R.T. capable and enabled as indicated by my BIOS...
Not a big deal though...I already have 2 other hard drives it monitors.
It just sits in your system tray and updates the temperature every so often.
There are options that you can set to have an sound alert go off at a certain temperture, have temperature logs with specific time intervals, and there is support for mor languages than just english (for the appealf of non-english speaking people...).
I really like the program...and hell, the Temperature logs are really nice and can be imported into Excel or something and can be charted.
Since my temperatures are based off on when I open and close my window, its pretty dumb to be analyzing that kind of stuff. It be worth it if I was using this software on a server and was trying to find when, on this server rapid temperature changes increase due to some software...at which point i would try to find the problem based on the time the change occurs.
I turned off the logging since I'll never make use of the logs...logging is turned on by default after program installation.
Overall...great lightweight program...recommended as a temperature monitor if you dont one of those bloated softwares like Samurize or some crappy Widget program of the soft. |
