| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I wonder why it's praised so much all over the web.. This is my experience with a 5.5gen ipod and anapod 8.9.9.
The first problem I observed was that you can only upload videos as music videos! This should not be such a big problem, right? I can still use iTunes to copy the video files. Well, the thing is that anapod changes the ipod's database in such a way that iTunes has to search for some "gapless information" on all the music files on the ipod each time after anapod transfers files to the ipod. This is very very unsettling..
Anapod had some tools to "fix" the media database on the ipod. The only effect was that the music files appear twice in iTunes.
I wrote the customer support more than two weeks ago, but I got no answer.
Instead of offering a solid piece of software they offer a crappy one with features like accessing the ipod files through a web interface? Why would I need that? It's a portable mp3 player, for God's sake.
Until it's compatible 100% with iTunes and has full support for video files, DON'T buy it. They do say "better video support" - well unfortunately it's still crap.

I bought this for my 5G video iPod after reading glowing reports and the feature list included support for video, the only package I could find which made this claim.
Within 24 hours I had emailed Anapod Support to tell them it wouldn't transfer videos or podcasts to my iPod. Since then I've upgraded to the latest version, and emailed twice more asking for the advertised features or a refund but never had a reply. I see from other users that this lack of response is typical of Anapod Support.
Whilst attempting to use Anapod I have several times toasted the iPod's database - the rebuild function works for music files but nothing else - and it has saved or converted videos onto my iPod as unplayable music files.
Support for different file formats is also very limited.
I think the only good thing about Anapod is their flashy advertising - but it's not worth $30.
If you're looking for an iPod manager, take a look at dBPoweramp Sveta. It only handles music, but does it very well - it handles any format you can think of, and top quality - and best of all it's free. |
