| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | Tried all Nero versions, upto Nero 8 !!! But roxio is far more better than nero for DVD burning . All DVD formats are compatible with Roxio unlike Nero since Roxio uses its own driver perhaps. Few multisession DVDs burnt using Nero can only be appended using Roxio !!!!!!!! |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | It has many different things you can do including slideshows movies, formatting videos for you ipod, mixing songs and many more wonderful features! my favorite software so far!!! |

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | | The software itself is very good and relatively easy to use. However, make absolutely sure that you make a backup copy of the setup software when you download it (access expires after 30 days) just in case you have a system crash or need to re-install the program. Roxio's 'customer service' so far has been non-existent and leaves you high and dry if you don't help yourself from the start. A shame as otherwise I prefer the program to 'Nero' but without good Customer Service (no replies to three emails after 2 weeks) you can become unstuck. |

I'm a fan of Nero and this would have to be my second one.

| GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | Roxio remains the EASIEST solution for copying and creating cds.
The interface is the easiest to navigate and use.
It is very easy to create data and music CDs...let alone DVDs.
It remains the best solution for copying CDs by file.
Of course this means of copying CDs does not copy the cd protection like, say CloneCD or Alcohol 120% would.
By using the Roxio cd-copy for games and such you better get familiar with www.gamecopyworld.com very fast.
Of all the programs for making data cds, Roxio is the easiest.
Probably the best thing that Roxio gives you is the Roxio Retrieve software, which comes on CDs which are burned with more data than the cd can hold.
Seeing as how the program works, this is only for use with DATA cds/dvds. If you want multiple CD DVD movies for example, you need to use a program like DVD Shrink to spit out the ~700MB vob files.
With data cds, Roxio will make data split up over multiple CDs as if the CD's were one medium.
Manual file splitting based on size takes some time. You have to figure out which files you can organize together to maximize the data on the burning medium.
Roxio just burns files until it fills the CD, and when it gets to that final file that doesnt fit it will burn what it can fit on the first CD, then the rest on the second CD, completely maximizing space on the CD or DVD.
Of course the only way to fully retrieve the file is by the use of the Roxio retrieve software burned on the CD along with all your files (its very small and it autoruns which is nice).
I personally like burning with Roxio because its very easy...point and click a few times. But there are the hardcore techies out there who want to be able to modify the settings in their burning software to the n'th degree. For those people, Roxio probably isnt the best choice. For example, Nero has a lot more options than Roxio has.
Roxio also comes with a built in DVD authoring program. Its very nice. The copying software allows one to copy not only CDs but DVDs. It does warn that it will not copy/rip protected DVDs.
But, if you are smart enough to have ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter, then Roxio will haveno issue with the movie and you can re-author to your hearts content.
The default dvd menu isnt so bad either.
Great software.
I put the value at 4/5 because Roxio only burns .ISO/.CIF files. I usually handle .BIN/.CUE and .IMG/.CCD files. |
