You guys/gals, this is not working. I have went into i386 and changed the nt into old nt and copied the uxtheme into it. Did I overlook something? I put it into system32 and still not working. Please don't leave us in the dark. Some of us need a step-by-step guide for this. I also tried uxtheme multi patcher and it would not let me install after I had unzipped.

I can`t replace the old file with the new one. Just after renaming into uxtheme.dll.old, I`ve copied the patch to Windows/system32, and in a fwe seconds it was replaced with the old version without prompting. After all I`ve tried to delete the uxtheme.dll at all, and then put the one I`ve downloaded here. Didn`t work. In a couple of seconds after deleting the file, the old one is restored automatically.

How to use this file:
1) Download the file and extract in a handy location (eg: your Desktop). This should create a new uxtheme.dll file in that location.
2) Go to C:WINDOWSSystem32 and rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.dll.old
3) Put the new uxtheme.dll into C:WINDOWSSystem32
4) If you get any warnings from Windows stating that an original system file has been replaced, you must click "Cancel", otherwise the new uxtheme.dll will be replaced with the original one.
5) Reboot

I couldn't get this theme patch to work, but the one at http://themes.belchfire.net/index.php?showtopic=8767
does work. when it asks you to put in your windows xp cd, dont put it in. just reboot your computer when u finish installing it.

go to c:\windows\system32, and make a backup copy of the original uxtheme.dll, it is a system file, and if any windows updates cause problems with the replacement uxtheme.dll which you have downloaded, it would be good to be able to have the original back.

Once you have backed up the original file, extract the one you have just downloaded to c:\windows\system32

You may have to logoff and then on again, or reboot, but after that, you will be able to use third-party .msstyle files, instead of blue, silver or olive

What do I do with this patch thingy? Do I put it in my WINDOWS folder? Someone. Please help.
