| GUI:   Features: Ease of use: Value: |  | After downloading this last year and having nothing happen after selecting the bubbles screensaver and setting time to a minute, my wife told me she had bubbles floating around her desktop.
After fooling around with it and asking her when it appeared I found out that my wireless mouse was the problem. If I disconnect my wireless mouse, then the screensaver works. Whether this is a USB problem or the sensitivity of wireless I don't know. I haven't tried it with a wired mouse but will have to try.
By the way, the sife just loved the bubbles. |

| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I got the bubbles installed and everything, but i can't get the screensaver to run with the desktop background. Changing 0/1 did both even restarting the pc and all and still nothing. Can someone help me with this situation?

I'm not a real savy computer person but I've seen the bubbles screensaver displayed in several shops. After downloading the file and placing in "Windows/system32" When I select bubbles to run it does not have a configuration file I can adjust. It just spits out bubbles until the screen is almost full and not enough room to move about. The other three screensaves that came with the download will not run at all. A box comes up and tells me "Unspecified Error".
I read the text files that came with the Bubbles SCR but don't know where, when, or how any of this information should be. And I missing something, other than knowledge of programming?
Again, thank you so kindly for you time and effort.

| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | I have both a Laptop and Desktop with XP SP2 installed. Using the instructions below given by softwareseeker257 I do not have a HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Screensavers\ (ie Screensavers does not exist).
I have loaded the Bubbles.scr into System32 folder.
I see and have selected it from the DISPLAY PROPERTIES tab.
Nothing happens after that.
I have a brand new (installed 48 hours ago) higher-end video card in the desktop with 2.5Gig of RAM so at least it should work there. The laptop display is suspect as to whether it is capable of running it...
Where did I go wrong? Can someone explain why I do not see the 'Screensavers' key in the registry on either machine? |

Some one may want to add this to readme files. Over all it all turned out well and I like it, I was getting bored with the old screensavers and all files showed up in my download from the first mirror. |

| | GUI: Features: Ease of use: Value: | | It takes a program like WinRAR 3.71 to extract the "bubbles.scr" file from the Screensavers5308.17.rar file.
A trial version of WinRAR 3.71 can be obtained at http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm.
I got the bubbles screensaver working great on my Windows XP Pro SP2 machine. I also got it to show up in the drop down list of the Screen Saver tab of the Display Properties window.
Here's how...
Installation:
1. Once extracted to a new foler that you create on your desktop, Copy file "bubbles.scr" to C:\WINDOWS\system32. This will make the bubbles screensaver available in the drop down list for available screensavers within the Display Properties Window. Then, in the Display Properties window, scroll for the bubbles screen saver and select to preview it. This will run the program with default settings.
The following conserns changing the default settings of the bubbles screensaver:
2. Go the the registry editor at Start_Run type in "regedit", without the quotes, and press enter. Once in the registry editor,navigate to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Screensavers\Bubbles
With the "Bubbles" folder "open", right click in open field of folder (the right hand side of the registry editor) and hover mouse arrow over "new"; then select DWORD Value.
Rename newly created DWORD Value "ShowBubbles" without quotes. Left Click in the open area to end renaming and right click on newly renamed DWORD Value.
Select Modify.
Leave the Hexadecimal value at 0 to have a blank screen behind the bubbles.(A good idea to prevent screen burn in at the corners of your screen where the bubbles cannot reach due to their shape.)
Set the Hexadecimal value to 1 to show the desktop behind the bubbles.
Thus you have just created a switch. The only catch is that you have to go back to the registry editor to change it; you cannot change this setting from the Display Properties Window under the Screen Saver tab.
The same is true for "ShowShadows" and other such [DWORD] 0/1 options listed in the programmer's notes.
I do not know how to configure the [DWORD] int settings. Hopefully the programmer will share that info in a way that those of us less familiar with the registry editor can understand. |

I am quite computer literate but I don't go smucking around in the registry without detailed instructions. |

But these screen savers are great |
