Ad-Aware in the past was an excellent anti-spyware application, now it is complete bloatware and can't use used with other real-time anti-virus like Avast. The name is very deceptive because it is NOT an "Internet Security Suite" because it lacks a firewall and anti-spam components which are available in almost all "Internet Security Suites" but which Ad-Aware Free Internet Security you will have to buy these components for extra, they only are available in the paid Pro version. It is too slow to use as an on-demand scanner and will slow down your complete system when installed. They are much better free options available that don't limit features.

The current version of Ad-Aware is abominably slow to load on startup. You could almost go and make yourself a pot of tea while waiting for your computer to be able to DO THINGS, while Ad-Aware loads. Prior versions were much less of an imposition upon the computer's resources while loading.

Ad-Aware can be set to start MANUALLY instead of automatically at startup; but on my system this actually disabled it. Even when I attempted to open and run the program manually, it would not start.

I have removed Ad-Aware and will not reinstall until such time as it becomes a smaller, faster-loading program...if ever.

This is garbage! Refuses to install on both Vista machines I've attempted to install it on with the same 4 digit garbage error message. Should be removed until they fix the installer.

Before install it, try to see all the problems about the AE in the Lavasoft forum.
That's a pity! The early versions of the sofware were very very good, but this one is really bad. Problems during installing, problems launching the software ... as I said: try to see what about in the official forum.

Had to remove all Ad-Ware Free Anniversary Edition files and reinstall the original Ad-Aware 2008 as Ad-Aware Free Anniversary Edition has the effect of moving all the text in the PicaView 32 display to the left to the extent that much of it was not displayed.
It is to be hoped that next time I let Ad-Aware 2008 update it does not automatically update to the Free Anniversary Edition otherwise I will have to remove Ad_aware altogether.

Ad aware is pretty good, though when it is scanning through your computer it actually scans slowly. But it is very good. Sometimes it can't detect a few viruses that's why I always have a back-up AV, any would as long as it's not a bad one. Ad-aware is excellent for people who don't know much about computers or anti-viruses.

Nice piece of software for personal use. Combine this with a good firewall (e.g Comodo) and a nice anti-virus (like Avira) and you have quite good protection. Paranoids may consider a preventive appln like SpywareBuster to go along with this "SecureCombo"

Simply said, IT does not work with the VUSTA OS, and my earlier version will not longer receive database updates. It stops with an error message" Error 5%."
I look forward to the next release. The original Ad-Aware SE served me exceptionally well for at least 3.6 years.

I think this product has been downloaded so many times because 9 out of 10 times what you get is a "corrupt" copy!!!

Poor product. Installed Ad-Aware 7.0.2.5 on two separate Vista machines and both crash upon startup. Have reverted back to Ad-Aware SE which works just fine.

Adaware is a very useful tool, unfortunatly this version doesn`t work on my W98 machine according to the info on the website.
My pc works fine but a lot of new versions of known software (wmp11, firefox3 and this one) don`t run on it....wich almost forces me to get a new one.

I paid for the Pro upgrade and the serial number provided did not work. Customer support was very, very slow to respond and provided no actual help with the problem. I changed to another program that works and registers. If you try to register this software you may be throwing away your money...

Ad-aware was a very good program to prevent infection of spywares and ad-wares but it only WAS. Now, if you want real-time protection, you HAVE TO purchase the pro or plus version. Why? Why did they make it payware? The free version does not worth anything since it's NOT able to protect your system in real time. Now I'm about to change to an other program that is FREE and supports real-time protection.
