I have tried to install automatic updates to Adobe Reader X 10.1.2 and received an error that said that needed to insert the disc for same. Have never had this disc, have no way tp acquire the disc, PDF documents do not work correctly. Major problem for me since my bank sends documents in PDF that require my inputting to the document which fails. Why is this error and how does one fix the problem. I use XP on a laptop and have not had this problem until the 2nd of February 2012. I have downloaded the offered X 10.1.2 three times and said error prevents installation. WHY!!!!!. I need a reply and probably a disc.

I can not print a PDF file from my bank since I downloaded Version Reader X 10.1.2. Every time I get a error message when I try to print. I have gotten no help from Adobe other than they want me to pay for the support. You go around in circles trying to get any support. I finally uninstalled the 10.1.2 version and reinstalled a 9.3 version and can now print the statement. Is there another product that can be used other than Adobe?

This is just what I need, however living in the country we can only get dialup service. My ISP Bright.net is lousy and I down load at about 2 or 3 kbps. So how long would my phone have to be tied up to down load todays super large files. Well that wouldn't work anyway because my ISP will drop my connection several times during an online session.
I cannot keep my computer OS updated, nor can I download up to date drivers. Why is the government giving these Internet Providers huge sums of money to wire the outlying areas and then not forcing them to deliver. If the world is supposed to be connected people in the USA hinterlands are out in the cold. I read recently that third world countries have better rural internet service than the US. Why does that not surprise me. Thanks Adobe for at least offering it to us.

"Adobe Reader X" is becoming somewhat over bloated software in contrast to other PDF creators available. My major complaint are the amount of system resources it consumes in RAM and virtual memory usage compared to older versions. It is slow and GUI interface is getting rather old and tired changing little over the years. The most annoying features:
    - Forced to open PDF document at splash screen, sometimes I only want check for updates.
    - Each PDF loads another Adobe Reader application using up more resources and becomes more unstable. No multiple document interface.
    - JavaScript support introduces new security vulnerabilities. The number of Security bulletins warnings about potential risks, prompted me to turn it off.
    - Automatic Dynamic Zoom disabled. Selecting it from a menu or buttons isn't the same as using a scroll wheel on my mouse, anywhere within the document.

The program is great when it's not making my computer crash. I've had this problem each time I "update" according to their "have to do it" comments. "You don't have the latest Reader...update...blah...blah. I update, and then my computer starts crashing. I bought a brand new Windows 7 computer recently, and it ran great until after I last updated my Adobe Reader. It "doesn't play well with others" anymore. If you visit the adobe site and read the comments from users, you'll see that I'm not alone in this. Also, Adobe now has an "automatic" add on that has an already clicked box that says "download McAfee Virus Protection", which you may not notice. This puts extra strain on your memory, and you get more crashes! Adobe needs to do something or they'll put themselves out of business.

Amazing.. I won't be using Reader X on any other machine. Can't get PDF statements anymore, somtimes the Adobe tool bar shows up and sometimes it dosen't. Somtimes the Save button works and sometimes it's there but non functional. Strange thing is it's cosistant on a per site bases. In other words, site A, no tool bars, site B, tools bars no button functionality. Site C, no document, period... Sure wish I could go back to v9, it's totaly consistant across all sites. X is totally unstable!

So far Reader X seems to be a complete bomb. Haven't been able to open PDF's without a lot of trouble, and can't download new PDF's from sites I've used for years. Was about to uninstall X when I discovered Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 (which worked great) isn't available any more. If the bugs don't get fixed by 4/8/11, I'll still uninstall it and find another PDF reader. Too bad.

I had a big problem printing legal size docs as the information was left off the bottom of all the pages. I appreciate the free use of such an awesome program as Adobe and really like the format for Version X. If you have a work-around please advise as I had to drive 120 miles and spend 3 hours today correcting my big problem of yesterday. The cutoff at the bottom has affected at least 5 of my friends who are going back to Version 9.4. I always prefer to look ahead and I am sure your tech people will correct this problem soon.
I have been using Google Chrome as my browser and wonder if X is compliant with same. Any assistance will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Seems to always have critical vulnerabilities; problems updating; not quite as slow as in years past. I use PDFXviewer after having used Foxit Reader for 2 years. PDFXviewer is much better than Adobe Reader and better than Foxit. I use in conjunction with Bullzip PDF printer.

I no longer use Adobe Reader, unless I absolutely have to.

PDFXviewer does everything and more than Adobe Reader or Foxit.

Recently confirmed that Acrobat Reader v.8 and v.9.2 are NOT reliable pdf readers. The solution is to remove all traces of these versions from your pc (a free version of CCleaner did all of that very well) then locate, upload and install Acrobat Reader v.7.1
This version still works very well.

Their latest security update has changed the update settings that from now on will only work when Background Intelligent Transfer option is enabled in Windows services.

Not the best choice as many user disables this service for security reasons as BITS is said to evade the IS firewall protection giving hackers a chance.

On the other hand it might be considered as good, for keeping BITS disabled (and re-enabled temporarily just for Windows or ADOBE updates) prevents ADOBE reader from going online for automatic updates, a function that cannot be disabled in the menu tools option.

Considering it is a Free Download, Adobe have done very well.
What I partucarly liked was the fact that as it installed it removed the previous version I had.
After correcting the wonky ActiveX entries with Norton WinDoctor, I took it for a brief 'test drive'.
It's loading of PDFs at the site I visit alot was a lot easier than v7.08
I am well pleased with this version.

The standard in viewing PDF files...

But its horribly slow...and you wont realize this until you try out a freeware application called Foxit PDF Viewer:
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-tools/PDF/Foxit-PDF-Reader.shtml

Foxit has the same features as Adobe (and the same lack of support for FireFox...woohaa), but its MUCH faster and much lighter on resources.

4/5 on value and overall because of the existence of Foxit PDF.
