I never got the refund that I asked for, I wish I had contacted SafeCart instead, now it's too late as 30 days passed a long time ago. What a scam and rip off!

Junk, at best. "Winpatrol" caught it trying to stick itself into my startup file. I said No. It terminated immediately...after disabling my wireless adapter.

(And, no, this computer is nowhere near what it said. "Congratulations! We identified your computer as..."--not even close.)

Put it out of its misery and start over, okay?

Completely useless. I keep getting messages that my video device driver needed to be updated. Ran all updates (pc and Microsoft) and this driver was not listed. Purchased a 1 yr. subscription to this software for $29. Received receipt for $29. Charged $39 for 2 years. Ran the software scan. Did not identify any updates for my video device driver, but did list 30+coded possibilities that I might want to review. Did not download any of them because I had no clue how to decode the data. E-mailed support team. Told me to register (already done) and enter pc information (already done). Contracted support team three times. No response to over charge and no answer to any Driver Detective questions. Have no requested a full refund.

The perfect program to run to look for the name of unknown drivers. Then delete it. Dont even hit download. Dont pay.

tried to use the program and the driver for my wireless card would not work no matter what I did. Tried to get my money back under the money back guarantee and they wanted me to go through all kinds of hoops just to get my refund. Tried to go through paypal to get my refund and nothing so I just wasted 29.00 for a program that does nothing for my computer.

This is a scam, it did nothing, i paid for the product and it says to update then download the new driver but it does nothing after following all the instrucitons.

Watch out for this developer because they don´t refund as promised. They just ignored my refund request and didn´t even reply to it.

I am the latest of fools to have purchased this without the company willing to rerund my money. I will be contacting the credit card company to deny payment for this software. It does not work well with Vista 64-bit. It does not find drivers that are hard to find. It made several things quit working that were working before the installation.

It does not work on Windows 7; it is a scam. Do not waste your money!
It replaces otrher drivers that just do not work,I have uninstalled all Driver detective.

This is possibly the worst waste of $30 in recent history. It SUCKS! Does not work on any of my computers and I have 6.

It did not say anywhere that is was a subscription until I had bought it. No one answers questions. I think this is a guy working out of his house. DO NOT BUY!!

I do not recommend this to anyone, It works for a limited period only and when you contact the company they don`t have the common decency to reply. It`s my opinion that this is one of those company that are out for your money rather than to help you with your computer. DON`T BUY!!!!!!

My advice before you buy this? Do your research. Just because they have a bunch of ratings, does not mean it's good software. Look for software that is accredited through BBB first.

I have tried this app for a year. This application is worthless on all OS 98 to Windows7. It has never found a missing driver only ones easy to find and easily located. Most of the time the suggested driver is wrong and leads to a format. Any tech support you need you might as well forget emailing them they will not help you and you will not get a refund EVER. They should rename the App Driver Defective. This program has no redeeming value what so ever. Do not waste your money. Don't bother wasting time with the demo. It will not let you locate the drivers only give you the status of your drivers.

Lousy piece of "work." Tried to install one of the driver "fixes." Would not install. Tried another one. Then tried to install. OOOps! That move shut the computer off dead. Got the computer working again, and uninstalled the whole thing. DD would not give the promised refund. Contacted Safecart, and they emailed saying the refund was provided, but haven't seen it yet. Best thing is to dispute with your credit card company.
STRANGE THING. I only ended up with this DD thing when I tried to download Adobe Acrobat, so thought it was part of the Adobe download. What goes on with these strange human beings to grab money from people?

Didn't even detect my DVD drive, let alone provide drivers. I uninstalled it less than an hour after installing it and requested a refund. Many attempts through PayPal, SafeCart and DriversHQ have achieved nothing. I've reported it to the UK Advertising Standards Authority and to PayPal as a fraudulent web site since Driver Detective adverts saying "just contact us for a refund" are clearly obtaining money by deception.

This is a bit weird, but here we go:
Last Sunday I bought Driver Whiz - Error Whiz got dowloaded at the same time. When I ran Error Whiz, it ended up deleting all my email addresss and all the emails that I had in my folders.
What is weird is this:
Today I sent an email via DriverWhiz website and asked for a refund. I got an email from this Driver Detective telling me to do a couple of things to resolve my issue - nothing to do with the refund !
Perhaps these are a bunch of people out to rip off unsuspecting people like me.

Looks like there is a connection between Driver Detective and Driver Whiz.

I think THIS PROGRAMME IS VERY USEFUL.

This program really sucks. It does not do what it says it will do. There is absolutely no support what so ever. Whatever your problem, or question, you get the same standardized e mail, urging you to buy a registration key. These people should be in jail!

Sorry DD this product was useless, very difficult to download the drivers due to a hole bunch of problems in fact I gave up, so no benefit at all and far too tricky to sort out.

This program is an outright fraud. It does nothing at all of any use. Their "support" consists of sending pre-printed FAQs. When you pose a specific question, you get the same FAQs. They sell this junk by baiting with a free scan, then ask you for $29.95 for the program, and end up charging $39.95. When you look closely, you see that it is the same junk as Driver Whiz with slightly different graphics. If you ask for a refund, there's no one home. Don't waste your time. You will probably get satisfaction from your credit card company if you tell them you have been defrauded and file a dispute.

I went around and around with Driver Detective too, trying to get a refund for that piece of junk! I finally sent a message to the"Safe Cart" customer service link, which, thank God, I had kept that original e-mail I had received from them. I requested a refund from them, and got a confirmation e-mail right away. They said it would take up to fifteen days. However, the refund was in my bank account three days later.

I hae purchased this program twice inthe past fiew years and found that it an absolute abomination! After numerous calls I never received any satisfactory answrs or solutions from Them. I asked for a refund twice and NADA! Yhis program is just a shadow of mot manufacturer's driver sites such as Intel and has NEVER solved my driver problems as to system speciic or Intel Or Windows driver updates.. These are amongst the worst user reviews for a product that I have ever seen, and yet on the product description page the rating for the product is given as: Good (3.7/5). Naturally, some people will see this and not bothering to read the reviews will think that the program must therefore be "good". I can only assume that the overall rating for the program has been bumped up by ballot stuffing, since only a couple of the 70 reviews below are anywhere near positive (and one of those is obviously from someone directly connected to the program publisher). Clearly the lesson to be learned is to always read the user reviews, and to return the favor to others by leaving your own review of products where possible.

Several times I have 'accidently' been at a download load screen of Driver Detective and thought, "Well I'll give it a try".
The scan usually flags some out-of-date drivers that are not that much out of date or are for something like an Ethernet controller, which I don't want to disturb as my PC is still working OK.
I then Google: Driver Detective reviews. The comments are as they are here, so I then remove the product.
May be this product works on most PCs, most of the time, but when it fails, it seems to fail big time!
What worries me and why I don't use it is that, if it fails, it looks as if the outcome is often TOTAL DISASTER; and often is too often, and once is too often too, when it’s on my PC!
Surely someone in this company needs to perform some sort of risk assessment on this product, and make some changes to the current situation. I am not going to fork out any money for this product while the situation is as it is. Rebuilding a PC is bad enough, but to have paid out money for the untimely opportunity to rebuild system is ridiculous.
The saying “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” keeps coming to mind.
Drivers are not like most applications that can be added and removed without affecting the underlying system and many driver updates are not necessary. Updating a driver containing software updates for a new product is not necessary if you are not using that new product.
If there was a make of car for sale that was truly fantastic, but every now and then the steering and breaks failed, not only would it be a marketing failure, it would be taken of the road by the authorities.

I just purchased driver detective to try and install a driver for my dvd rom and I could not get it to work. I wish i would have read the reviews before purchase. I did contact my bank and will try to submmit an unauthorise purchase dispute. I was given a number by my bank to reach safecart but have not been able to reach them and they have not returned my emails yet. do not make the mistake I made by purchasing this software.

I've used it for two years now on three systems (xp 32, vista 64 & windows7 64)

It picks up WAY more out of date drivers that Pitstop Driver Alert 2. Having said that, I worry that some of their recommendations are not always accurate.
Fortunately, the program offers an option to manually upgrade by going to the vendors site.

I'd have to say that overall I think it's a pretty good (and fast) app.

Most of the complaints seem related to cost and apparent tricks to get you to pay up. I don't have any comment about that as I didn't feel "tricked," but if I were still a student I wouldn't use any paid software if at all possible.
Updating drivers manually is probably the safest bet, but it takes a sxxx load of time.

Horrible program. Not only did it not have/find 2 drivers needed, but it recommended 2 that were out of date, by years!! I'm not fan of vista, but it caught dd and advised me to stop. I did. I got rid of dd. And, I asked for a refund, but, of course I'm not holding the classic breath. Russell.

I bought and Installed Driver Detective Ver. 6.4.3.3 prior to installation I went to various hardware sites and updated the majority of the drivers on my computer. Then I ran Driver Detective it indicated that some of my drivers are out of date, I downloaded a few of the out of date drivers from Driver Detective some were out of date and some were current, regardless Driver Detective indicated the majority of the drivers were out of date. Once again another rip off by a software developer, I have un-installed Driver Detective and will update my drivers the old fashioned way and get them from the hardware vendor

I purchased Driver Detective because it kept prompting me saying that my system needed updating so I thought I would download it. It said FREE DOWNLOAD. However, when I downloaded it, it charged me US$39.99. New Zealand pay three times what the US dollar is worth. I have not recieved the bank statement for this yet so I dont know whether they charged me NZ $60 or $90 for the Driver Detective. I am absolutely devastated because I am a student with hardship and now I am out of pocket even further. What is the world coming to. The Driver Detective did not do any thing what so ever, it just sat there and calmly set itself up in my computer systems and I had to find them and delete them all. I hope i got them! Really, really fed up to the teeth.

Not only did I get charged 4 times more than I was expecting for the software but

1. It took hours before I could get the software to do anything

2. The drivers it downloaded trashed my PC completely and it took me 2 days to manually get the latest drivers for my devices.

I have requested a FULL refund and given them 3 days to give me this otherwise I will request AMEX to organise a charge back.

To be fair they did respond to my original complaint within 1 day but only offered to refund $9.95. Sorry Drivers HQ this is not adequate.

So, if you are looking at buying this software my advice to you is DON'T but it is up to you. There's gotta be somehing availablethat is reasonably priced and more importantly works..

Don't buy Driver Detective. Poor product and service. Trying in vain to get (promised) refund was like entering the darkest corner of a Kafka novel.

I downloaded the freebie to do the scan and not only did it incorrectly identify my laptop model but it failed to pick up the one driver I knew was out of date. It all seemed a little fishy so I Googled around for reviews and found this site. I've just saved myself some money and aggro. Thanks again, people.

Driver Detective controls only 65 of my drivers 216! This because Driver Detective does not update the system drive! And because either Microsoft is concerned about their updating, they remain with their Vista original version (i.e. 2006).
Moreover, Driver Detective is lack of information about how to install the downloaded driver for which the user is forced to unzip the downloaded archive and read notes for its installation.
If you click on one of your system expired drivers, it’s open a Driver Detective information window. Its Drive alternative tab not allow you to see the data of drivers and the operating system information because the two columns are unsizable.
I have downloaded updated drivers but some archives had a bad crc and were irreparable or were without of the setup.exe (file: Chipset_Intel_8.3.0.1013_Vistax86x64.zip, AS8920G_Intel_PM965_GM965_8.3.0.1013_Vistax32x64.zip).
The INF_allOS_9.1.1.1015_PV.exe - A - OVERALL command only applies to extract the drivers for Win 2k, XP and 2003 but must be replaced by the INF_allOS_9.1.1.1015_PV.exe - AONLY for Win Vista.
For these reasons, I believe that the Driver Detective program does not meet its flagrant published functions.

Looks great but does not work. Tries to overwrite existing drivers with older ones. Disabled my audio device. Found 14 driver errors but could not repair any single one of them. BTW: there is nothing free about it, except the download.

Do not get this program, I paid for 2 years of service on the thing, out of 12 out of date drivers, it managed to fix 1. On top of which they have no customer service at all. They'll say it cost 1 price then charge you another. Save yourself time an money an look elsewhere.

I agree with all the previous post. The customer support is absolutely unsatisfactory!! I also requested a refund and have yet to hear a word back, not to mention not being able to download the driver that would have fixed my problem AC97 from realtek for integrated soundcard. I think that we should consolidate our efforts and file a class action suite against this company.

What is the customer service number, I looked up lost sound as that was the issue with my computer and it brought up Driver Detective, I don't see how it will help and I am out $30.00 What can be done?

I read the reviews. TNX guys, just saved 30 bucks. I've custom built my boxes and chase drivers as needed. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Why look for trouble; Beta test the final release of anything.

What a scam indeed! I have been a registered user for 1 year and paid US $ 39,90 for crap. Each time an updated version was released, I ran the program and each time had quite a few drivers outdated.

In 2 instances I sent these guys an e-mail regarding a specific driver, but never ever got an answer back.

I just removed the program from my notebook and advise everybody not to buy this shit. And I learned a lesson that before you ever buy any hard- or software, just read the reviews beforehand.

I was surfing to find a converter for some photo files. This poped up as a solution and I was dumb enough to get sucked into buying it. It's shit. It scans and tells me I have all sorts of drivers out of date but they don't load and clear as no longer out of date. IT"S A SCAM..!!

Purchased 3 licenses, they made sure to charge my credit card the same day, but won't deliver the LICENSES. Have e-mail their so call customer support for 5 days. They won't respond. The last e-mail I sent to them, I told them I am calling my credit card company with a fraudulent charge, and they still won't respond. What a worthless company!!!!!!!!!!1

This is total scam...attempted to cancel and get refund 1 hr after purchase. there is no site to request refund. called their office...person on recording speaks at record speed informing how to access site for refund, making it virtually impossible to follow. Looking for a specific driver for my Acer1240UT scanner so downloaded Driver Detective to get it . You know the rest it wasn't fixed and luckily I didn't try to fix the 10 drivers they said were out of date .50 Canadian down the drain . Emailed their support four times with no replies . DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

Driver Detective is a HUGE rip-off!!! It stated that I had many drivers that needed updating, but then it proceeds to not download the correct ones and is useless in truly getting the correct drivers. After much frustration, and having already given them the $30 this piece of garbage cost, I emailed them to get my money back. Gee, what a surprise... no response!

This progrma is garbage and the people that wrote it should be ashamed of themselves.

Driver Detective, a program that "finds" driver problems on your PC, "fixes" them, and is "guaranteed" I can guarantee that you'll be screwed if you do business with them. Their "support" is a joke, they don't answer requests for refunds, their software doesn't work, and there are bad reviews all over the internet about their product and their practices.

I rated everything poor because inteface, ease of use, etc doesn't matter if the software doesn't work

Downloaded DD to solve USB device driver problems. Paid my $39 (surprise!) and proceeded to install the product. Installation went OK but then I tried to use it. DD found an enormous number of outdated or missing drivers for my system. When I tried to do the fixes, it fixed everything so almost nothing worked. Finally after 5+ days of debugging, performing system restores, and paying more money to get it fixed, I'm back up and running. Driver Detective SUX ... don't walk, RUN AWAY.

Ok I think I just got ripped off!!!!!!!!!! I didnt come read the reviews before so Im one of the lucky ones that now has to deal with this waste of time and money!!!!!!!! It's NOT free, but understandably so if it works.....but it doesn't work. There is virtually no support. I don't understand why they include "Guaranteed" in their ad, I guess it means they guarantee they'll keep your $39 and forget the refund if you are not satisfied. I learned the hard way, lost $39.

I thought the product was $9.95, but when I approved Paypal, it was $39.90. I do not want to use the product and I cannot get anyone to respond to my emails requesting a refund except to say that I will get my $9.95 back. I have been unsuccessful in trying to talk person to person in Customer Service, if there is indeed a customer service department. Poor, poor service. I was ripped off!!!!

This program is a rip-off. It is making my computer reboot every 10 minutes or less. I PayPal approved for $29.00, and it charged $39.00. I requested help, the only thing I get is automatic replies. Stay away from this garbage

Should have read the reviews before spending 30 bucks on this waste of time. I'm having problems with my audio driver so I downloaded this software to fix it. All it does is tell me that theres a problem with my audio driver and does nothing to help fix it. Pure Garbage!!!

Emailed their "support staff?" twice with questions and did not receive a single response. Only when I sent them a critical one did they respond with;
"Please explain further. A review of your records shows your account active and Driver Detective software is registered.

$40 cruel joke ..... on yourself! First clue should have been the search results for help with a driver problem, Driver Detective shows up disguised on several very different looking pimp sites. Easy to download with greasy promises of full refund and guaranteed problem resolution.

You will not get any response when you try to contact them, no refund, and the software just simply fails to do anything other than inspect your existing drivers and proclaim the status as GOOD, OUT OF DATE, or NOT INSTALLED.

A harsh lesson in humiliation with much damage to trusting online software sellers.

I downloaded the "free" Driver Detective and let it scan my pc. It found 10 out of date drivers, 2 programs that didn't even have a driver, and 16 up to date drivers. When I clicked "next" I learned it's not so free any more. So I read all the info they offered and decided "Why not give it a try?" So I have my credit card beside me now, about to purchase the product, then I read all these reviews. Thank God I did. Only 1 out of 26 reviews weren't critical. And even he said he wouldn't use it on a store bought pc. This site has saved me some money. Thanks!

There are better programs than this available for free. It is particularly clunky to install, and works for a few computers until you get the message that you have used all your licences.
If you are unable to download drivers from the original manufacturers (Dell and hp, for example), try DriverMax.

I have also purchased Driver Detective and payed with paypal but I just open a dispute against them through paypal and now they say I will recive a refund in 15 days but paypal is after them now. I also threatend to contact my local police and with in ten mins had a email saying they will give me a refund.hope this helps just keep emailing them.

IT did not find drivers for any thing that I needed drivers for. The only thing that it could find a correct driver for was a microsoft mouseand I had the driver for it but had not installed it. The drivers that it found for things it said I needed to update, would not work on my (windows 2000) system at all! The things that I was looking for drivers for in the first place it did not find any thing for. I have asked for a refund but have not seen any thing yet. This program is a joke!

I downloaded the free sample DD & wizard thing. It said I had many driver problems. I'm on a very tight budget so I decided to wait before continuing through to the pay for it portion and just left it alone. It's icon was on my desktop and listed in my control panel. DD (the free portion) was in my system for 3 days and during those three days my computer started going slower than dial up, then started making very weird noises and then twice windows shut down and I got a blue screen with white CRT writing that said my recently installed software needed to be removed before it seriously damaged my computer. Also said it was beginning to "dump physical memory". I removed DD and voila! my computer returned to normal. If this much havoc was created just from the little free teaser portion being in my system, I can easily believe all the horror stories I am NOW reading. I should have read the reviews first like I usually do but at least I decided to wait to pay for it and because of that I managed to not get robbed like everyone else did! Just got ripped. Thought it would be $9.99, but when I approved Paypal it was $39.99. My fault, they set me up and I didn't catch it. Downloaded and downloaded recommended drivers but DD still is showing I don't have the latest driver. Now, I have to decide if it's worth the effort to try to get a refund. Probably more work than it's worth. I should have researched, like I normally do before sending them money. But it sure looked trustworthy.

I have a home built system that I had to reload and I was missing drivers and could not find them online. Downloaded DD. and it found all my drivers and updated ones too. Would not use for a store bought system.

Do not buy Driver Detective!!!

It caused hours and hours of problems. Every driver they supplied was either the wrong one, or it messed up my computer.

It is really hard to get any money back, too.

SCAM. Does not work. Will not give a refund as advertised. Crashed my PC. I think it has a virus!!!!!! Don\'t buy this junk!!!!

I have all current drivers and this program corrupted my good install of Vista. I was having trouble wit a PnP device that was not starting. However when installed this software every thing went to hell in a had basket. It siad I had 10 out of date drivers. so I ran it and it installed those "new" drivers. Bad thing Driver Detictive cased errors in my restore point. I couldnt even have Vista go back to last know good conferation. I had to reformate and reinstall Vista. Bad bad bad software. DO NOT BUY.

Tried this program. Initially said I had 8 or 10 outdated drivers. Managed to get it down to 4. Everytime I tried to download those last 4 it wouldn\'t do anything. Contacted (or tried) customer service on each driver. No response. Finally started exchanging emails with someone named \"Mike\" who said alternately it was the firewall (what?), then gave me links to their website that told me nothing I didn\'t already know. Then finally \"we can\'t find you in our system\" (why didn\'t they say that in the first place.) Sent a copy of the purchase order. Then another message about make sure the firewall isn\'t interfering (or something like that). Then ANOTHER message about \"we can\'t find you in our system.\" You\'re kidding, right? To quote one of the TV judges: \"Stick a fork in me, I\'m DONE!\" Don\'t waste money on this...

Avoid this, said it was special sale price of $9.99 with $39.99 crossed out. And I was still charged $39.99. Then upon using program I have the same issues as others (drivers recommended are no good or damaging, ect.) Disputing with Paypal. H...- how did you get your refund?

Had to format less than 4 hours after install. Not happy.

AVOID AVOID AVOID caution. sucks your $39.99 outa paypal before the normal confirm page, never got the key to activate the software. they have no record of me and after a month no refund they promised a month ago. Paypal dispute did not help

Did not have the drivers i needed. I requested a refund everyday for a week and did not even get an email back. Called there phone # and it told me to reach them by email.

This company is really bad! If your thinking about using a tool like this dont use driver detective.

Poor customer support

Didn't buy this program based on reviews. But why does Softpedia allow Driver Detective to use Softpedia logo on their website indicating Softpedia endorsement.
I don't trust anything on the web anymore.

cannot find the uninstall feature for this program.. I checked my list of software in the control panel and it isn't even listed. Anyone know how to uninstall this software?

Avoid this app. When I downloaded an updated driver for my printer, Kaspersky spotted an 'Invader' virus within it. I can no longer trust this application and I strongly advise anyone else to steer clear. If you use it at all, just use the free version to identify the drivers that you need and then download them from trusted sites. Do NOT use this without a good security system in place.

Tries to install wrong/older drivers than currently installed. Newly installed drivers still show up as out of date. After 3 attempts, I can tell you they DO NOT ANSWER EMAILS, which is particularly galling as tech support is one of the \"features\" they tout; \"all emails will be answered no later than 24 hours\"--HA! Total rip-off. AVOID this scam and go to driverguide.com--which I learned about too late--for a real program with actual support.

Ok, I just got a refund and I'm very satisfied with that.

I strongly recommend you to NOT buy this product!

At a first scan, Driver Detective shows 18 out of date drivers, so I download and install all recommended drivers.

After installing the updates, it says 19 out of date drivers... Something is seriously wrong...

But then the real PROBLEMS begin:
wrong drivers for my video card, soundcard and even drivers specifically for AMD 64bits, while I have Intel 32bits. Result: video card was like the old VGA screens, with only 8 colours or so. And other problems like no more sounds, so I had to reinstall all my old drivers.


I contacted them for this problem: NO REPLY
So next to a product that doesn't do the job it promised, there is
NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

I complained for this, and again nobody replied.

CONCLUSION: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

An easy to use program which provides no useful information.

The drivers listed as updates for my video card (nVidia) are for a different video card. The drivers listed as updates for my sound card (Creative) are for a different sound card.

E-mails explaining the problems have been ignored.

In the year since I paid for this service, I have not been informed correctly of a single new driver. I suggest that you learn from my mistake. It's cheaper.

I have failed to install it on my PC. every time I try it asks to download dotnetfx which I have already installed. If I say yes it says there is an error, if I cancell it then does not complete the installation, is there no way to bypass the download?

I'm Giving it all poor for the fact that, if you need to reinstall your system you have to buy the programe again.

I reinstall my 4 PC's at home quite often. This software made it easy to not have to save drivers for reinstallations and not have to check every site for updated drivers. When I bought it I had unlimited membership (as they called it) BUT the last time I reinstalled a desktop of mine and tried to use driver detective, I got a message that I have used all my licenses. Emailed their support and basically the answer I got was: if you reinstall you have to buy the software again.

Buggy,no support,don't answer Emails. It tries to install drivers that are older than what are on the machine. Save you money for a program that works.
