I absolutely love FastStone Image Viewer on my PC and have used it for years. I recently purchased an iMac and am very disappointed that there isn't a Mac version. Of course, that won't stop me from forging ahead on the Mac, but now I have to find something that even resembles FastStone Image Viewer and I doubt that is going to be easy.

Not as pro as Irfan, but not as amateur as Picasa. Probably the best all-rounder. I compared it on color numbers and output file sizes to Ashampoo 6, Irfan 4.2, Paintnet 3.3, Gimp 2, Picasa 3.6 and in most pf the cases comes first, only second to Irfan on some specific kinds of jpgs and after optimization. For a free program that can do batch converts/compressions and presice resizing, powerfull watermarking, picture grupping and at the same time its so stable, light and with a fair amount of visual effects, what more can we ask?

It's like ACDsee or even much better!

I highly recommended to use it ....

FastStone Image Viewer instantly became one of my favorite programs. It has the features and power to do virtually everything I need to do with images but, more importantly, it is efficient and EASY to use. Since downloading this little software gem, that Adobe monster on my computer has seen little of me. Though you will not need it to accomplish most necessary tasks, it is well worth downloading and reading through the tutorial accessible under the "Help" menu. FastStone Image Viewer is definitely a keeper!

i needed an image folder brower with thumbnails for my xp as i only like to use filenames in a list in explorer and xp's own image browser just wouldn't do.
this prog has it all. very simple file icons if files are associated, you recognise image files in xp's explorer easily and see the extension from the small icon. picture browsing in the prog is fast and easy. the program has all functions i wanted it to, rotating images, resizing them etc and the gui is totally modifiable from skins to mouse button functions. beats acdsee and ifranviews and others by far.
AND IT'S TOTALLY FREE! I recommend.

Well I'll be damned. it wasn't long ago that I posted here my main grievance with FastStone 3.4, which was the terrible rendering/smoothing in full screen mode.

Well I just donwloaded the version 3.5 and the issue seems to have been fixed, strangely without a mention of it in the version's release notes. In any event, seems like I can finally say good bye to IrfanView. FastStone is trully great, beautiful GUI and well thought out.

All that's left now is to change that terrible corny logo and we're all set to go.

Visually and functionally, this is the best viewer/quickeditor outhere. The GUI is second to none, it\'s nicely designed and highly customizable.

The intuitive controls and options available from fullscreen are perfect.

BUT, FastStone has a major problem, which substantially diminishes its value. FULLSCREEN VIEWING SUCKS!! FastStone has got some serious problems with its smoothing filters in fullscreen views.

It\'s okay to see a jagged picture in fullscreen if no filtering/smoothing is turned on. But not once you do turn it on.

To see what I mean have a look at the following printscreen crops from fullscreen views, on left is IrfanView with \"Resampling\" turned on, on the right is FastStone with linear smoothing on.

Whether you chose fast linear, linear or lancsoz3 does not make a difference. You simply will get jaggies, which is completely unacceptable and totally kills the overall experience rendering the software useless:

    .
Ironically somethimes FastStones smoothing goes overboard and blurs the image. Here\'s another comparisson with IrfanView, also in both cases with smoothing on. Note the blurred signs on the buildings.

I am a semi-pro photographer and I deal daily with too many images. Besides my digital darkroom programs - Gimp and PImpact - I needed something fast and helpful not only to see the out of the camera captures but also and if necessary, to make small adjustments. As I believe that a good capture is obtained when pressing the shutter release button of the camera thus, heavypost processing it is not needed but with FSIV, can not only see what I captured but also to make adjustments as needed in a way, that mostly of times I do not need to open the other two. Besides, navigation is so easy and the array of features so complete (it even has an effective watermark solution and specific areas highlitings ) - bear in mind that we are in the presence of an image viewer -(not a normal one but a super one) - that I cannot believe that it is free. I myself have contributed with a donation, as I really think they deserved it. This is a great program. Try it out and conclude by yourselves.

FSIV has a rare mixture of features that are just perfect for quick image viewing. It's a "must have" for digital camera owners. No other program has the features, performance, and compact size in the same package. Only things I wish for is to remove the skins from the EXE file, and remove the sound file support. That should speed up loading just a tad, which it also needs.

This is my first time writing a review...I am so impressed with the painless operation and features. I own Ulead Video Studio and used to use it for slide shows, but now FastStone beats it hands down. Best image organizer by far. Used Picasa2 and this even beats that. Great work!

This is an excellent picture viewer.

It offers an excellent and clean interface of the standard "tri-view" type. That is, 3 windows (folder list, picture viewer/previewer, thumbnail/file list) glued together into a single interface. It is reasonably quick to acquire thumbnails and performs without a hiccup.

Two areas where it really shines are its configurability and its wealth of useful picture adjustment tools.

The one feature I wish it had would be some sort of EXIF or meta-data viewer & manipulator.

Besides that, FastStone Image Viewer is a wonderful picture management utility and could easily be your only photo viewer. Its non-existant cost makes it all the more attractive.

I needed a picture viewer to easily see my pics that were in My Documents and My Pictures area's as well as on "c' drive. This program has been fantastic! I download my pictures to My Documents, then I cut and paste the downloaded pics to My Pictures. At this point FastStone, kicks in and the Photo is automatically posted into a viewable icon, without even accessing the FastStone viewer.. When I click on the Pic when there isn't an automatic photo displayed, the FastStone Viewer boots automatically and puts my pic, I selected, into a Full Screen mode to view it... All I have to do is move my mouse to the left or right of the pic and click the mouse, and several different menus pop up allowing me to manipulate the photo, copy it, or do what I want. When the photo is in Full Screen mode, all I have to do is use the mouse to scroll thru any and all photos within that folder I have open... This program, has NEVER, failed me.. This program has never caused me any problems, nor has it ever failed to perform.. I use this program exclusively now...The neat part is the FastStone icon image, shows on the photos, just prior to displaying the image, so you know if the image will boot up. But the best part is, when you see the FastStone image icon, ANY other viewer program will boot up the pic also... It does not lock the photo out from any other program... The ease of use of this program is very simple, no problems. I have NOTHING BAD to say about this program.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is FREE ware. No Cost! My compliments to the designers, programmers, etc. who made this program...I now have a great time with all my images.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looked like a good program, but here's an idea, if you say that your program can handle .eps files, MAKE YOUR PROGRAM HANDLE EPS FILES!
