    I've downloaded this several times thinking that maybe the first installation file was corrupted. The installation font is complete gibberish. I've tried to install this with every compatibility mode listed in windows 8 and it still doesn't work. this is the only application I have ever seen do this. I'm pretty disappointed it doesn't work.

    This is a reply that I received from Foxmail staff about automatic word wrapping:

    Hi,
    it is a bug that English words can not be wrapped automatically in Foxmail 7. We will fix it in next build.
    Sorry to have given you trouble.

    This email program overall is excellent, the only big problem is when you compose an email there is no automatic word wrap! Your recipients get a single line of text unless you stick CRLF manually.

    Just upgraded from version 6 (which seems to have some issues in windows 7). Very pleased with the new version ... I have been using Foxmail for over 10 years and it has never let me down. To get the English menusI had to change language.ini (desribed previously) and delete the Chinese lgb files. Importing all data from old version worked perfectly. I really like deleting unwanted emails on the server directly - and like Kate had trouble preventing automatic download of emails - finally found it - right click on mail box in left pane>properties>mail server>untick check emails every ...

    I can't find a way to disable in Foxmail7 automatic emails downloading?.. I want it manually, through Remote, with deleting half of them on a server. (I'm using now Foxmail5, and just installed 7 for testing).
    Also, I failed to import messages and accounts from 5 to 7. Suppose, they don't "understand" each other.

    Excellent and simple to use email client. I use it in the office instead of Outlook as it is much faster and still works with Exchange.

    Also don't forget to change the next thing in the subfolder Languages> Languages.ini:

    ;;ActiveLang specifies the language filename, without .lgb extension.
    [Default]
    ActiveLang=English (is originally Chinese BG5)

    Unless you want Chinese submenus.

    You can sort the various mailboxes by opening Accountmanager from the menubar. In the accountmanager menu are a up and a down button. Select the account you want to sort en move up or down.

    I've used Foxmail for years, and I like it. I like having all my email accounts visible in the left sidebar index. Now I have a problem and can't find online instructions for fixing it.

    One of my mail accounts has sub-mailboxes, each named for a person I receive mail from. I move the emails I receive from the inbox into the appropriate mailbox. I would like to arrange these in alphabetical order, but I see no way to do that. New mailboxes are always added to the bottom of the list.

    Any solutions/suggestions?

    Good program.

    Have issue with Group mails to be addressed & sent individually without each one knows whom else we sent this mail.

    Earlier version, we had ways of sending mail to a group together & they used to have it as individual mail.

    Every mail should have a counter stamp like a ref on of the mail, which will make it easier to search old specific mails.

    there should be a link in the program itself to send bug & suggestion directly from the program. This can help builder fine tune this with more & more feature & make it free of bugs.

    Otherwise, this is a good program which I have been using since last 5-6 years with out much hassles.

    Should have more theme, colours, layouts.

    This should have grouping mails by Senders/incoming address or by subjects, or by dates, or by other criteria chosen by user for ease of manage.

    If open to a contest, many people Can suggest many features for a finer program to become the best one.

    Thanks to the maker anyway.

    Have a nice day!

    When Foxmail is installed, and you have changed it to English (by deleting or renaming the file chinese.lgb), some chinese character remain. However this is not a real problem. However this should be solved by the authors.

    On the point of contacting to unsuspected IP-adresses:
    At the installing a RSS-feed is also installed with Chinese info (like MS Outlook with BBC news). Maiby the contacting to Chinese IP-adresses is caused by retrieving the latest RSS-messages. You can delete all these Chinese RSS-feeds, I persume that then no contacting to Chinese IP's will occur.

    Macros changed from English to Chinese, luckily I had some back-ups.
    The Planner (calendar) does not function any longer and there is no more icon available for the "Show Contact Information".

    I don't suggest any email software which usually connect to other serverss than the real mail servers. Check it yourselves with your Firewall and see it's log if you have any.
    This program collects some informations (maybe usage count or login and password) and try to connect to the following addresses logged by my firewall:

    TCP strongmail.icnfull.com [146.145.38.10]
    TCP jump.qq.com [60.28.233.88]
    TCP www.gridirect.com [207.51.84.39]
    TCP www.datacollect.foxmail.cn
    TCP ping.qq.com

    The idea that Foxmail 6.5 mails home to Moma is unsettling at best. Foxmail 5 was originally released in 1997, perhaps this new version mails home somewhere other than Hong Kong, which is where the original programmer came from?

    This is better than any other free email client as of today. Either others are bloated, slow and big or do not have all features. This freeware is small, fast and easy to use.
    A few points though:
    1) When you fwd, reply messages some default text comes in Chinese and also on reply/fwd by default the mail is not attached till you select html.
    2) Deleting mails is little slow
    3) Cannot sort by threads

    Ive been using Foxmail since its inception , it has always been the best email client out there hands down , the only thing that could be improved is the chinese couls have an english forum set up for the program, this would eliminate the problem of trying to solve issues by yourself ! Other than that it works great!

    I am not sure where the one guy got the idea that the software is taking info and sending it places (other than the manufacturer) , obviously if they wanted the info they would ask, but certaintly wouldnt send it to other sources, one would have to ask , where did you download your copy and start there!

    This is an excellent program that's all but ruined by the lack of a complete English translation. Peope just aren't going to use a program if the menus have characters they can't read. If the developer is not going to develop it properly, then he should sell it to someone that will.

    Chris: Having spent more time now with the program I agree with you about the Reply function not working correctly and as you did have now made my own templates for HTML and Text Replies plus matching ones for Forwarding emails. Fortunately it's fairly easy to use Fomail's built-in template manager to both study existing ones and to create new ones.

    I'm now using Foxmail 6.5 build 022 which as with previous updates just installed over the top of the previous version. You do of course still have to then delete the chinese.lgb file to get it back in English again. This is why I mark the program down one point for ease of use.

    John: Sorry for the late reply, I've only just remembered to look and see if there were any follow-up comments. To answer your question I have Windows set to automatically move the mouse pointer to the default button when one is coded, as it is throughout the installer. I therefore just clicked the default button all the way through the installer. I would have to re-install to try and spot a section that looked like an Eula - how did you know that was what it was, do you read Chinese?
    PS I'm now running build 021, which installed over the top of build 020, without any problems.

    Cris: What problem did you find with the Reply function? It works OK for me as long as you click on the right hand side of the button and select either the HTML or the text (the one below Template >) choices.

    This has to be one of the best programs I have ever used. It's so easy to setup. Has a superb, thoroughly modern and easily configurable user interface. Handles multipe accounts with ease, has comprehensive filtering facilities, multiple signatures. Import from other email programs is relatively straightforward (via eml files for the emails and via vcf cards for addresses). The only negative aspects are 1) the installer is in Chinese, but experienced Windows users can easily guess which buttons to click, 2) the Help is all in Chinese but I found I didn't need it and 3) when first run it comes up in Chinese. This last aspect is easily solved by quitting the program, navigating to Program Files, Tencent, Foxmail and deleting Chinese.lgb. It'll be in English from that point on.

    It is to my mind easily the best email program out there, even with the language issue: that's to say that even after you remove the Chinese language file, it still has all the drop down menu's in Chinese.
    A real English version would be great.
    But it's still the best even as is .... the virtual folders feature alone, is a stroke of genius...it imports most other popular mail formats, and handles multiple accounts at a breeze.
    It sees to have a great balance between flexibility and simplicity. I think a lot down to a great interface, which feels simple, yet it's also really powerful.
    ....so please bring out an all English version 7!

    To copy your templates.. Simple as I have done. Just install the Foxmail 5 to any directory, copy the templates folder and keep it safe in a drive like a flash disk. Then install the very latest Foxmail anywhere you want in the hard drive and find out its location. Open the resident folder of Foxmail and delete the Templates folder inside it. Copy the foxmail 5.0 template folder to this location and all are done. Cheers!!

    I really like it, the best thing is the installing, and setting up, if you used the program before (older version), you can simply copy mail boxes and configuration to the new, easyest way to carry the settings.
    I use this e-mail client since version 5 nowadays I changed to 6, and I have some problems. First of all that I can hardly find support forums, knowledge database, or any information.
    I have a question: how can I set Foxmail to use the templates that I made before, if I click to 'compose' doesn't use the default, always without templates, that sucks.

    From what I have read.
    Most peoples problems are related to their own computer,
    and not this application.

    For English translation of Help, goto:
    http://babelfish.yahoo.com/
    You will need to copy and paste the Chinese into the box for translation, if it is that important to you.
    I have no problems with this application at all. So, that says its not the application that has the problem. Fix your computer.

    I have been using this for about 4 years. Except installation problem, it is very good. Like other mail clients if they have different language set up, at least English, it will be good.

    Hi,
    I've recently upgraded my foxmail to Foxmail 6.0 and I imported 3 accounts and the address book from Foxmail 5. I use to keep the foxmail 5 folder on my USB pen drive and now I did the same thing with 6.0 version. It works perfectly on my computer at work but when I wanted to open it from home it didn't worked.
    In Foxmail/Mails I've found the folders of all my accounts but foxmail can't open any of them, And I received the welcome screen that guide you to make a new account.

    You now what to do to solve this problem?

    Dear Friends do not use any version of Foxmail. the program collects some informations (maybe login and password too) and try to connect to the following addresses logged by my firewall:

    TCP strongmail.icnfull.com [146.145.38.10]
    TCP jump.qq.com [60.28.233.88]
    TCP www.gridirect.com [207.51.84.39]
    TCP www.datacollect.foxmail.cn
    TCP ping.qq.com

    Why such a sensitive program should send the informations outside which we don't know what they are?

    I have been using Foxmail for a number of years but now find that I am having all sorts of problems, which may have been brought on by one of the recent updates. The 'X' will not always close the program and many times I have to go the 'Alt-Ctrl-Del' route. The cursor is often hidden in the message box, and the individually typed words only appear when I press the 'shift' key. Has anyone encountered anything similar, and, if so, I certainly would appreciate hearing from you, especially if a solution has been found. Many Thanks.

    Finally, an update! I was beginning to think that 10cent had killed the program.

    FoxMail is potentially the best E-Mail program on the Web. It's light, fast, compact, portable, and has just the right set of features. In my opinion, a wonderful program is largely going to waste. I wish a more reputable and reliable developer would rescue the program.

    Of course I wish for a good English translation, and a more rapid development cycle. A changelog with beta releases would also be more professional.

    Try it, it's a very nice program, even with the obvious faults.

    Found some more problems, and though I'd share them (anyone knows if there's and english support forum or something?)

    - While writing new e-mails, whenever you hit space button the textbox will scroll up (to align the line to the top). Couldn't find a way to disable this, and it's just awful.

    - The old problem with word wrap was never solved, and is still there. If you type a full line and the word wrap skips to a second line, if you try to erase the text (using backspace) it won't get back to the first line. Also, sometimes, when you write a full line the text box will get buggy, and the text will sometimes get cropped, or all messed up. First characters get chopped in half, and stuff like that.

    I've been using Foxmail since version 4.
    I'm familiar with it's interface, and recently decided to try version 6 beta 4. Never tried it before cause I didn't know about the trick to the english version.

    A week after started using it, I already got some good and bad points on this new version, and here it goes:

    Pros:
    - It's pretty much like it's previous version, but with a very nice RSS support;
    - New UI looks nice, though it's pretty much the same as Foxmail 5 with some colors, and options for frames;
    - Importing content from Foxmail 5 worked perfectly;
    - There's a new SPAM identifying filter system. Dunno how well it works though;
    - Easy to install and configure. Was easier than Thunderbird to me;

    Now, the problems:
    - Mail accounts won't auto-expand and display when new e-mails arrive. This worked perfectly on Foxmail 5, dunno what happened. Sometimes, new mails arrive, popup warning shows up, but when you check the accounts, nothing's there until you actually enter the Inbox where the new mail arrived;
    - RSS reader will display some links and stuff with chinese characters;
    - Hotmail-Foxmail proxy seems to be the same as version 5, which is buggy and really irritating sometimes. In comparison, Thunderbird's Webmail plugin works far better;
    - No way to disable popup warnings, which is bad specially when your running a fullscreen application (like watching a movie, or playing games);

    That's about it for now.

    I find the program excellent. There is one thing that has started to worry me though. Antivir detects a problem with one of the files, mchset.dll and detects the DR/Delphi virus. I suspect this is a false alarm started by an update to antivir that is too sensitive. The same file was not detected as having a virus a few days ago.

    FoxMail is a very solid E-Mail client. It took me 30 seconds to set up my regular mail account, and another 30 to set up my GMail account. The Spam filters and Bayesian filters are simple and easy to use. Only downgrade was for poor English support. Some of the icons still have chinese characters when the drop-down arrow is selected. I expect this may be fixed, but who knows? I say this because version 5 was never fully converted to English.

    I also find it hard to believe how little it's known about this program, when it actually beats pretty much all shareware alternatives out there. Has all the features I've needed from my email and on top of that pleases the eye.
    Sadly, I think there's already Foxmail 6.0 in Chinese and the English version of the program has been discontinued.

    Well, I simply do not understand why this fantastic program is so badly known around users. Besides all the features it has - beats hands down interms of feaures and speed, most well known programs - it has a fantastic feature that almost anyone knows: you can install it on a USB pen drive and have always your email program, with all your emails, wherever you go. Besides, its features are so many - remote access, templlates and even a "direct/non server sending feature .- that it is really good. I've been using Fox mail for 3 years and never went back for anything else. Try it, you'll love it.

    I only use OE when I have no other choice. I started looking for freeware alternatives to my prefered e-mail client when my wife gave me a new computer for Christmas (sans software). Foxmail installed easy, configured with a minimum of fuss and even has two ways to learn what is spam to me and what is not spam (even when the sender makes a mistake and does something to mark their own mail as spam). I would rate the program higher if it had the ability to mark and delete messages in a batch instead of one at a time but that is just me...

    I normally use OE but the user reviews caused me to try Foxmail. Installed no problem but then I tried to import accounts and saved messages from OE. Fox can import .eml message files only which made me load and run Outlook (hate)....OE to Outlook and now unable to locate .eml files?. Did I miss something. This is too hard. Back to OE i guess.
