    I installed GData about 2 years ago an a Kaspersky protected notebook. It cleaned up over 5000 viruses and made my laptop feel like new. It was a believer from first sight. Now i still have Gdata and never had a virus problem. I don't play much with the default settings. I have to say that I am a careful internet user and I don't click on every stupid offer on the internet (only some :) )

    I have purchased this product for the second year in a row, and as it came to the end of license, it virtually crashed and would not update or even uninstall decently.

    Now I have purchased - foolish me - a 3 pc license, which is acknowledged by email, but will not download.

    gdata is an outstanding product, i have a hpg60 230us with a pentium dual core and no issus. with a 99.8% detection rate their is very little that gets past it. suposedly at a higher false positive but i havent had any yet. gdata also scored 10 out of 10 in blocking rootkits and other malware so definitly install on a clean pc and you will be set with a level of security second to none. now i have some questiones, does gdata use avast 5.0 engine and it doesnt remove cookies or does it. and one more thing what other security software do the rest of you use in combo with it? you know firewall,spyware,etc.

    For USA customers: no on-line tech support; no forums; broken toll free phone number. Four of my inquiries entered via a Web support form remain unacknowledged and unanswered after 30 days. Email directly to two company officers remain unanswered after a week. During German business hours, the automated response at a 1-888 toll free number transfers to Germany then disconnects after 6 minutes of silence or just delivers a message in German and disconnects immediately. As such, only seasoned Windows users should consider G Data and this drops the Overall rating to fair. And in fairness, neither their Web site nor the user agreement indicate any support is included in the price.

    Otherwise, GDAV2010 performs as advertised and updates smoothly. The dual engine (Bitdefender & Avast) model ranks in the top tiers of independent testing, returning near 99.9% protection across the board.

    All modules have "set and forget" modes as well as geek tweaks. This is an easy to use anti-malware suite.

    It's fast and trouble free on my old PIII/1GHz laptop and my E8400 system doesn't even know its there. There are no issues running it along side Zemana AntiLogger, ThreatFire and IObit.

    At $35 for a one-year three-license subscription, this is the best deal bar none.

    Current version is 20.1.2.6 with 20.2 scheduled for mid-Oct 2010. G Data comes out on top in all tests.

    @ Rick: "lacking in Antispyware" WRONG! G Data protects against the full spectrum of malware and has done so for years.

    Hi Kind Individuals,

    Windows X64 bits O.S.

    G-Data Antivirus 2010 will not scan in safe mode. Also, lacking in Antispyware! Also, the scan for rootkits, hang up. Hopely G-Data
    will get these problems fix, A.S.A.P.

    Thank you!

    Previoulsy i used Mcafee, Kaspersky & Nod32, compared with these antivirus, G-Data performs much better, it detects some malware in my pendrive which the others failed. But it eats more memory. I feel atleast u should have 1 GB RAM.

    I've been using this software for a while and it's really awesome. I admit the initial scan took quite a while (as it is very thorough) but in everyday use it's not slowing down my pc.

    Hello!Everyone and the guys from Softpedia.I would like to give an opinion of G DATA .it\'s true that G DATA it\'s an good antivirus but the problem is another it wastes a lot of memory and it kinda slow Down you\'re computer.i\'m not Saying that Thorsten Urbansky din\'t made an good antivirus program but the problem is that when you use Bitdefender &Avast it\'s Obvious taht waste precious ram for you\'re work taht if you are not an bussines man.I reccomend this antivirus to the one who uses pc \'s triple core or quad core processor.i\'m sure for this kinda of processors it wil work excellent and not slowing down an pc.Anyway i like the way of his Detection and it does waht it sais but it\'s not for my Amd Sempron 1150 LE.Thank You
    P.S. i use the Most Kaspersky ,Norton,spyware Doctor with Antivirus and Eset.Right Now i\'m Using Eset Smart Security.

    trying to find solutions to problems is incredibly impossible. I am getting errors when scanning and it won't complete the scan. Trying to contact someone at a site that is in english would be nice.

    I think G data Antivirus 2009 would be the perfect antivirus if the memory usage wasn't so high. It uses 300 MB memory in total which is ridiculous.
    However everybody who doesn't play games or has no slow system can give this a go.

    Have been using GDATA AV 2009 Notebook Security for a month now on my Thinkpad X61s and found it worth every penny spent. I took my chance on GDATA 2009 Notebook Security and so far works fine for me. In my opinion, GUI is user friendly.
    Sure GDATA Notebook Securty is priced higher but uses less memory while running on the background and during logging-in compared to Norton 360 that made my Thinkpad load and run slower.
    Since Thikpad X61s is probably slower than other notebooks on the market in terms of multi-tasking speed. Performance is not similar to that of the desktop replacement or home notebooks that is to be expected since Thinkpad X61s is made for business travelers or people on the go.
    Installing and using GDATA Notebook Security 2009 is just excellent idea.

    GDATA 2009 utilizes two antivirus engines and virus signature bases of two AV vendors:

    1. Bitdefender;

    2. Avast

    So, using GDATA 2009 you make use two Avs simultaneously.

    At the very moment there are several best in detection antiviruses for home users:
    1.GDATA;
    2. Avira;
    3. Kaspersky;
    4. Bitdefender;
    5. F-Secure;
    6. Avast and AVG

    I wonder whether GDATA products will be big hits on Softpedia hot downloads.

    At last it happened -you've brought GDATA AV back to Softpedia. At the moment it is the best antivirus in the world in detection-almost 100%. It implies two AV engines with signature bases -GDATA 2008 of Kaspersky and Avast, and the coming GDATA 2009 will have dual engine system-of Bitdefender and Avast. I think this antivirus is the best solution for those who have powerful pCs-it eats almost 160 mb of RAM. But the detection rate can't surpassed and the highest among antiviruses at the moment.
    But you've included GDATA 2008 to the Softpedia library a little bit late-an English version of GDATA 2009 is to be released in a fortnight. The German version has been released already. Reviews of GDATA are much awaited.
