When I installed Chrome it made me lough, but when I saw its market share I wanted to cry. Even with its aggressive advertising, its insane.
It installed as default browser, without asking. When I wanted to add search engine, I saw a division between "search engines" and "other search engines". Lack of search toolbox which will enable "on the fly" changes finally made sense to me: it prevents a stupid enough user to change the default SE - Google.
You have to install add-on to be able to do something that almost ALL OTHER BROWSERS have "out of the box"!
Well, I went on Google site to download that add-on. That site should have warning - that children who visit it, because of huge number of animated advertisements, can have epileptic seizure. It kept redirecting me to some online shop.
Finally, sight of "themes" gallery, with kindergarten works, was too much.
Chrome doesn't even have option to change themes, only option to revert to default one. Etc, etc.
I'm stuck with Firefox. |

Greatest annoyance factor in Chrome is it installs in User Data folder, and you cannot change it!
HOW RIDICULOUS!
Ofcourse, there is a way to install it in Program Files, via Google Update.exe. But its so crappy, invades privacy, installs Service which autonatically starts with Windows.
SHAME ON GOOGLE!
What is even more appaling, is, absolutely no 'reviewer' points this annoyance in their review. I wonder if Google pays them to hide these unavoidable issues within its installer.
As of this date, I really feel now that Google deserves to be investigated by FTC. If they resort to such hideous practices with users' PC, imagine what these bullies must be doing behind the scenes!
I am an IT Pro for only 2 years, but dealing with unwanted behaiours Google Chrome is the biggest shock of these 2 years! Its like Google telling me: "You will do it OUR way; and not yours, even if you want to." |

Since all of you seem to be badmouthing what I consider to be the best browser I have come across I thought I would give it the respect it deserves, you people haven't got a clue, I am running the latest version on a 10Meg direct connection (so no wireless router crap to break down every 5 mins) with the metal "MAC" style skin on Vista (SP1), AMD Dual Core X64 2.1Mhz, 2 Gig RAM, Nvidia 8200 On-Board GPU 256MB so a baby really compared to others and it runs as sweet as with no crashes, it is stable, even with 7/8 tabs open. Startup time is about 1.5-2.0Secs to load iGoogle and even less for the standard page and there are no problems with the integrated Flash either so I'd have a look at either the amount of dodgy extensions you are trying to run with it, I personally only use WOT as it is the only one worth having, or you other memory hogging bloatware, fakeware, sorry software. A computer is only as good as it's owner and can only do what you tell it to so there's my two pennies, hope it helps... |

So some people here have already mentioned Chrome crashes too often. Well, that doesn't even BEGIN to describe it.
Seriously, the word "unstable" doesn't do it any justice. It's starts crashing within a couple of minutes of use, under relatively light load, compared to other browsers. I'm talking 3 or 4 tabs here!! Come on, Firefox and Opera can handle tens of heavy content tabs just fine. And then begins the cycle of crashes and restarts.. and crashes just as it restarts!
If you're a heavy internet user, you know this is a nightmare.
Another issue is that there seems to be a conflict with Internet Download Manager. Many pages (newegg.com comes to mind) don't load properly when the IDM integration for Chrome is enabled, and start to download files named "like.php" or "fan.php" instead. While some sites like imdb.com, hotmail.com didn't open at all.
I've never had an issue with another browser and IDM. And sorry Google, but asking me to disable IDM so I can use Chrome is just insane.
I'm not sure why I gave Chrome so many chances and was extremely patient with it, updating and searching for fixes, trying on two different systems (XP SP3, and 7 ultimate 64-bit. To the same results), both really solid systems with almost no problems, as far as windows go, anyway.
Maybe because I like Google, and wanted to like their browser, and use it as a quick, light alternative to Firefox (It doesn't hold a candle feature-wise to a customized Firefox with add-ons).
It's fast, sure, but for me it's just impossible to use with its current problems. |

The fact is I know more about the products than most who argue with me. Most when they find something they like stick with it and won't even try another. IE, Opera, Chrome, Firefox, and the rest of the fanatics won't try anything else and refuse to accept facts.
I never stick with a product. I always go to the best product available.
I've tested almost every browser available at least once. I went from IE, to Opera, to Maxthon, finally to Firefox.
All the things I say are pure facts. People just don't want to accept facts. If it goes against what they want to believe the person automatically calls the other a fanboy or fanatic.
Simply put those who argue with me don't even know anything outside of the world they created for themselves.
As for a life. I'm pretty sure I've had more of a social life than ANYONE else posting on here. I don't even second guess it.
Chrome is not as good as Firefox. Your talking minimal speed difference, with lack of add-ons and customization. Deal with it. I know Firefox isn't the fastest. I know it doesn't do the best on the acid3 test and I know it doesn't have the best picture, but no other browser is as complete of a package as Firefox right now and that is what makes Firefox the best browser. |
