my favorite browser! fast, light, not bloated, got everything and uses like 1/4- 1/6 of the ram compared to all other browsers .
right out of the box the browser needs some customization, removing from view->toolbars everything except url bar, removing the status bar, then moving the tab bar in the same bar as the url bar and fixing it. then some modifications in edit -> preferences:
    - start page blank, and if a site not found - show the google results. it wouldnt be bad if it came pre-customized like that. the mass user is scared of menus and configurations

My favorite browser ever! I put on every computer I get. It even makes my Packard Bell with win98 and 48mb of ram a pleasant surfing experience. I'd recommend it to anyone who thinks their computer has run it's course

I've been using the K-Meleon browser since about version 1.0--since about 2004.

It's my primary browser. It's got very good speed and better security features than Internet Explorer (I'd almost give it a Excellent for features just for having better security features than IE). But, it's got less add-ons available to download (than Firefox).

It's an excellent browser, stable, fast and reliable with many features...definitely the right choice!

This is the fastest browser I have yet tried, a little like a souped-up version of Firefox, with all the advantages of Firefox preserved. I like the clean lay-out with Phoenity-large, other skins have too small buttons for fast working. Ad-blocking, a must nowadays, works perfectly. I have just one grievance: why is there no spell checker? That is really a necessity if you do much discussion on forums. Otherwise, just about perfect!

I have really slow internet connection -- Wireless 0_0......
I tried so many Browsers, Avant Opera Firefox IE Greenbrowser Safari Chrome....etc...ANY YOU CAN NAME OF! This one is the BEST! It's proven to be the FASTEST, but it's not pretty or fancy as other browsers, but what's the point of a web browser? to browse... lol...

    Ha, Johnny the Man,
On my ancient PC with 256 RAM K-Meleon is the fastest browser, it even beats Opera in speed.
There must be something wrong in your either settings or software combination.

I have installed the latest version and tried it-I compared it to several other browsers, installed on my PC. The programme works well, though the download manager of K-Meleon is not that fast and downloading process is not so light and swift as that of Opera. The programme wants some minor tweaking in interface and usability, but overall K-Meleon is a great tool for browsing. I am looking forward to seeing the 2nd version of this browser, which is to surpass its peers.

i've been using k-meleon since the first version was out.. when firebird(pre-firefox) was released i switched because back then k-meleon did lack some essential features and was still very raw albeit very fast.. i stopped updating firefox after 1.5 when things started to get bloated with mozilla(not to mention commercialised with ff 3) so i went back to k-meleon..before that i shuffled between ie and firefox because i wasn't entirely satisfied with both. k-meleon 1.1.x versions were out and i was quite impressed yet i still felt a bit uneasy with layers which- unlike tabs- are actually windows embedded within the main windows, however everything was customisable and though k-m still doesn't have as much plugins or extensions as firefox it comes preconfigured with important extensions and the most important plugins you'll need from firefox; you will find them ported for k-m on the resources page.. one thing i really liked was the ability to use ie keyword search url with km..something that completely lacks in firefox, as far as i know, k-m is the only browser that supports ie/netscape/mozilla/opera favourites/bookmarks making a transition a complete breeze..

what makes k-meleon really shine is the use of the windows api, though based on the gecko engine for rendering pages just like firefox; k-meleon uses the native windows api and doesn't rely on the xul engine like firefox which gives it unrivaled performance and stability.. you'll notice ff always takes a few seconds to launch.. k-m starts almost instantly and has a very small footprint on your ram.. and what's more important it doesn't suffer from the xul memory leak that firefox has and still suffers from.

now, with the release of 1.5 rc i've ditched both ie and firefox and after many years i finally have a browser i'm 100% happy with and don't need any other browser to compensate for a lack of feature or a good UI.

over the years i've used a lot of browsers and this one is simply the best..

    give k-meleon 1.5 a try trust me..you won't regret it.

Gudday from Bill in New Zealand,
K-Meleon is recomended by my expert friend Phil, after extensive research, because :
1 Very secure, & eliminates the major threats into XP, from spyware, viruses, etc.
2 GUI, or look & options can be changed to ones liking.
    3 No annoying popups.
4 Definately one of the fastest browsers.
5 Well proven, reliable, regularly updated.
    6 Free.
7 Compact, & efficiently, re use of ram & cpu.
8 Phil & I have used & recommended this browser, along with its excelent companion, the Phoenix email program, for 3 years now, with great results, surpassing their competitors.
    Regards Bill.
