Limewire is NOW just another piece of CRAP that don't work. They took a good program that was easy to use and had great features, and destroyed it. I tried the new version on two computers and it's a piece of crap on both. I'm glad I had burned the old version to disk, or I'd be sol, since you can't get the older versions on line. If you are using 4-18-1 or older I reccomend you keep it.Whatever you do DON'T update to the newer 5-1. It really sucks.

Versions before 5 had a good intuitive GUI, and a somewhat buggy but very usable backend. It appears that instead of fixing the bugs that would have made v5 great, they wasted a whole lot of time creating a pretty new GUI and removing features that will probably drive power users back to the 4.x version or FrostWire (Limewire with all the stuff that doesnt belong in a P2P program stripped out)

Limewire is really cool to use, it also has a lots of information. I hope it would of been easier to download music and other stuff.

What the BLEEP happened to old Limewire!!!??? it was great! This new version, 5.1.1 is pure-D garbage....They rewrote the whole interface. I can no longer right click and see if something is garbabe before I dl it. I can no longer get rid of garbage files (they stay on my screen), I CAN NO LONGER PREVIEW ANY FILES to see if they are garbage...If I try to preview, they shut down the whole program....What is this? Did they let a monkey rewrite the whole program? Bring back the GUI from before. It is as if they are purposely trying to kill Limewire. I had very few arguments with it before but now it is almost useless. They did not give us the option of continuing to use old GUI or switching back to it, nor did they tell why they scrapped old one and went to this...this...monstrosity!

Iv always had Limewire on my computer, even Frostwire i havnt got any Virus's and my computer didnt crash yet *KNOCK ON WOOD*.

Limewires ace! I prefer to use torrents tho, bitcomet is far more better although much more complicated to use.

Limewire may be slow is you have a rubbish connection such as 4Mb

You get viruses for downloading infected files, its your own fault. Songs for example less than 500k (or 1Mb in some cases) are proberbly viruses or adware, becareful of EXE files.

Frostwire is a spoof of limwire. Its EXACTLY the same just its blue... what the point, it proberbly uses the same database of files.

I use limewire for single song downloads. I use bitcomet for albums, films, programs and everything else. Much faster i must say. (Bitcomet 0.70 is best if your having trouble witht the current one)

hey i once used an old version of limewire but my computer took in plenty of spyware and adware and caused it to crash down. so i am still very cautious to try this new version. Could anyone help me make up my mind??

Most possibly the worst mistake that I have ever made since I was hit with 56 Trojan Viruses in less than 30 seconds while using it despite the program setup I have to block. Any program is useless when hit with a mass virus setup in so little time. So beware and be prepared to go through a headache.and a few days of aggravation..well that is if you know what you are doing otherwise be prepared for a bill getting your hd cleaned. I\\\'ll stick with Shareaza from here on out.

Get the Pro version which is more than incredible.
By far surpass all the other sharing software’s, it’s true.
Unfortunately it's used by the smart peoples only and you can't find a huge number of files, but what there is on network you can download at a very high speed (the highest on the market) and start immediately.
If you will spread the "news" we all can benefit - more shared files, even higher speed, etc.

I agree with some previous reviews.... LimeWire got commercial - has lots of adware (even if you search for something legit, lot of junk comes up) and they make you pay for the Pro version. FrostWire is just like the LimeWirePro version, but with no adware and it is FREE! It's awesome.

Limewire is just junk! I mean who wants to pay for a p2p client?

LimeWire has TONS of search results, TONS of hosts, and lightning fast downloads. With broadband you can download 50 popular songs in about 10 minutes or less. Some songs take less than 10 seconds! You can also chose which host has the fastest connection to download from. T3 is the fastest, followed by T1, Cable/ DSL, and Modem. LimeWire is also very good at finding Full length feature films, videos, games, and software products. LimeWire Has no ads or popups to distract you. If you are downloading just music, you shouldn't have any problems. But if you are downloading games, movies, or other software products,try to know the correct size, and NEVER download a file that is smaller than 1 MB. It will be a virus. Also never download an exe file..only RAR files, and always scan with your virus protection. Some of these small virus files are sent by the publishers,( because they feel we should buy their product instead of getting it for free) , and some by sick perks who think it is a joke to give you a virus. As far as spyware, most p2p apps are considered spyware by many antispy programs. If your spy cleaner detects LimeWire as spyware...just uncheck the box or add it to the always ignore list, sometimes called the White list. Hope this answers your questions. Contains possible adware/spyware with this symptom.
When you search for video files, in my cases I was searching for Anime, it always dispalys fake pornographic results initially.
This is only the case in 4.9 and it did not happen in 4.81.
I got the same symtom from few other friends of mine who confirmed it.

Excellent product but does contain adware and if you remove it you can't use it.. Just run Yahoo anti spyware to prove it.

I think this is the new "Kazaa" program.

When I say that I mean its a FREE program that connects to a boatload of people, bringing tons of media downloads on a huge network, and its very easy for new users to pick up in a second.

That was how Kazaa was. Free, large network, media downloads, easy to learn.

The difference between LimeWire and Kazaa is that there is no Spyware, Adware or Viruses, something that Kazaa was full of.

Its great because tons of people will download this program with the same intentions of Kazaa but those spyware problems will be nonexistent.

LimeWire is really how g-smooth2k says one of the best p2p clients. If u r beginner, this is the best program 4u. If u r not a beginner, i would say DC or better is StrongDC with segmented downloading. It has more features than LimeWire, but harder to use

LimeWirePro is absolutely Adware/Spyware Free!!!
It also uses Sun's Java in order to run.
It may run slow on some systems with low system specs.
