Best virtual drive software out there. Extremely light weight and works flawlessly. Only thing is it doesn't have any window, just works from the system tray. But that doesn't really matter.

Started using this a few years ago as it was the first virtual CD that worked on 64 bit XP. Had used daemon tools prior. Never had a problem, but recently wanted to use command line/bat file and couldn't. Still using it.

If you can't uninstall, use regedit and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\MagicDisc 2.7.106 and change NoRemove Value from (1) to (0).

Product works fine if you have an ISO and want to manually mount it via the GUI. But if you want to automate things and mount an image via a command line/.bat file then you need to switch to Daemon Tools. The advertised MISO.EXE program does not work the command line helps file tell you to use the following command "miso.exe -mnt drvletter: pathtoISO" It does not work. The drive letter causes an unknown command. There is no way I can find that will let me use MagicDisc via a command line. I would stick with Daemon Tools it now works on Win 7 x64 and has command line options and is also free.

I downloaded and installed this software, and absolutely nothing happened. First it wanted to install the program in %appdata%/roaming/, so I changed it to C:Program Files (x86)\MagicDisc, and then it still insisted on loadedin a whole bunch of stuff in my C:\...\Documents folder, which I wasn't too happy about, but OK. After it was installed and I clicked on the icon, or the .exe file, then as Administrator, and absolutely nothing happened. Then I tried to uninstall it, and after giving me umteen options to delete all kinds of files, it still left the .exe file and the MagicDisc program folder on my hard drive. When I tried to delete it, it said, "Action cannot be completed because the file or folder is open in another program.", although there is nothing open. I think Magic Disc has some installation/de-installation issues to work out.

MagicDisc is missing the uninstall option in the add/remove programs (or programs and features in Windows 7) in the control panel. The following command line will remove it from the system.

C:\PROGRA~2\MAGICD~1\UNWISE.EXE C:\PROGRA~2\MAGICD~1\INSTALL.LOG

I like to use Docking software to keep my desktop free and clean, and thought doing this I have chosen to switch off the windows task-bar and system tray; however this now leaves a problem because magic-disk relays upon the system tray - is there any other way of using Magic-disk from the desktop or 'even better' have it run from a desktop gadget ?

Very bad! I use Windows 7. The uninstall wizard would just stop responding every time and my whole PC would freeze beacuse of it.
In the end, I used system restore, it was still there after that, but this time the uninstall wizard worked and I managed to get rid of it.

Right click on desktop go to new and make new text document name it INSTALL.LOG NOW OPEN IT AND PASTE THIS-

There are a whole lot of people who have very strange definitions of \"perfect\" and \"flawless.\" Perfect would be mounting an iso and having Windoze recognize it without having to reboot. As it is, at least on XP, once you\'ve mounted an image, it doesn\'t matter how many times you unmount it and mount something else, as far as XP is concerned, whatever was first mounted is now and forever what it thinks is in that virtual drive until you reboot with the new iso mounted. What a pain in the posterior.

I read this works on Windows 7, didn\\\'t work on my machine Windows 7 64 bit, it is OK not much expectation, it is Free, but I am not able to remove it from my computer.
Be careful, it seems it is with me till death do us apart!!!!

the program is excelent...i used on vista, and windows 7.

The program itself is good, but I too had major problems with it and AVG -- it caused my system to crash and i was unable to load WinXP. I uninstalled using the unwise.exe icon in the program directory -- my system is finally working fine now.

For playing Audio and Video CDs and DVDs, it's great. It's not so great with playing games. The games will not recognize the game CD as loaded in the tray when it's loaded as a virtual CD. One of my games won't even run if MagicDisk is installed. Also, on Win7, it would not uninstall. I had to manually remove it. I have lots of games and was hoping this would be an easier way to organize my game CDs, but I see it's not. So for me, this product is useless. If anyone knows a work-around, please post it!

This piece of junk messes up your system then to uninstall it, you have to manually open the folder you've installed it to and click on the unwise icon. What kind of software doesn't allow you to uninstall it from add remove programs.

I had to remove the driver mcdbus.sys in safe mode from C:\Windows\System32\drivers just to uninstall this junk. Stay away from this and get something else like Daemon Tools, Virtual Clone Drive, Alcohol 52%, or anything else, just do yourself and favor and not use this.

It worked great > until it disabled my dvd rom drive. I had to do a system restore to get it working again. But, then when I went to uninstall, it keep looking for the install.log file > which did not exist.

I still have it on my system and I would like it gone before it disables my DVD Rom again.

Perfect substitute for Alcohol & Deamon Tools! Had no problems at all with this program on Win 7 (x64)! Impossible for not liking this fine piece of freeware!

Over all its very good only have few limitaion e.g. it does not store the history of loaded image file everytime user have to select an image file from PC.
Also while un-installing from control panal, it remove my CD driver as well so my actual cd also not access able.

There is a very easy way to uninstall magic disc from Windows XP. Many people usually try to remove the program from add or remove programs(which I also tried at first) where it cannot be removed as there is no option of removing only there is the Change option. You can uninstall the program by going into the C:Program Files and in the Magicdisc folder... Then there will be an uninstall icon which you just have to run and the process takes less than 30 secs and you get rid of magicdisc..... SIMPLE

To uninstall in Vista, you need to go to Program FilesMagicDisk, and manually launch UNWISE.EXE (WISE installation uninstall utility). If you attempt using the Control Panel add/remove, you'll get an error.

Excellent wee piece of software - works a treat on XP

It has a small footprint and does it's job well. I too had a problem uninstalling it and after coming across a couple of registry hacks I found that going to the MagicDisc installation directory and manually running UNWISE it took care of itself. A very handy program and preferable to Alcohol.

Avoid if you are using the W7 beta, even though it is Vista x64 compatible it causes all sorts of problems on W7.

Had to boot back into XP and remove the program manually, then I could uninstall the drivers manually in W7.

Up to that point it worked fine.

I had a problem with uninstalling of MagicDisc (on Win XP system).
To solve it I looked at install log file in Program Files/magicdisc. There was written what had been installed and what should the system do to uninstall that.
So I copied the text from this log file (like "C:\PROGRA~1\MAGICD~1\UNWISE.EXE C:\PROGRA~1\MAGICD~1\INSTALL.LOG") and I let it run from promt (command line).
After that The MagicDisc was out of my system ;-)

The fastest and easiest way to work with .ISO files. Flawless under XP and Vista

MagicDisc caused my laptop to boot from the virtual drives, i.e. not run properly. Had to uninstall.

Works well with Vista. The help files could be better written and more extensive, but the program itself is straightforward, and relatively easy to use. I've tried a couple of others, but I prefer and use this one and recommend it.

I'm using it on XP & yes it works perfectly, its so easy to use, if your new to mounting virtual drives & using ISO's this is a really good starter program. Its also great for more experienced users, I run lots of ISO's & this is the easiest no hassle one I've used so far.

Works perfect with WinXP but does not works with Windows Vista

This virtual CD/DVD ROM drive works perfectly.

It installs without a hitch, runs without any issues and It supports many different CD/DVD-ROM binary files (ISO, BIN, etc.).

No need for Alcohol 120% with MagicDisc around!
