been updating with sdat 5951
it fail on zip

twice mad i am having same problem when updating to xdat5952
but using auto update i am succeed to get engine 5400 only
when running dat 5717 from xdat
but still the dat is 5710 and cannot have virus definition 5952

I have updates till 5932 until then it used to be 120MB. 5942 is just 62MB. I guess some changes are made. Can anyone help me update my Mcfee properly? I am not a technical person so explain steps / procedure in simple language. Thank you.

I don't trust the McAfee virus database. I had McAfee for 6 months and all seemed to be ok but a friend told me to try the Quick Scan from Bitdefender online to test it. And I was surprised to see that i had viruses that McAfee didn't detect but BitDefender found them. From then i use BitDefender.

I like it. It's not like AVG that detected Folding@home as virus/trojan..

Only a size of file become a problem
Try to make many files with small size containing only the latest update of virus sgnature
Those file must be independant...
for example
1 - if someone have the update of 10 january 2008, it is not necessary to download the large file which contained all signature of virus. Only update file contain the signature of virus january 2008 to August 2008 it necessary to update its McAfee
2 - For a person who never update its McAfee, will need a update contain all virus signature

Another say, i thing you must create a datebase which save all update file of McAfee
1 - Files contains all signature of virus (No execption)
2 - files contains the 1 latest month signature of virus
3 - files contains the 2 latest month signature of virus
4 - files contains the 3 latest month signature of virus
5 - files contains the 6 latest month signature of virus
6 - files contains the 9 latest month signature of virus
9 - files contains the 1 latest month signature of virus

There is a new virus/worm which replicate itself in a folder, i.e sometimes \"New Folder\", or \"Game\" and those virus you may have all the necessary patches and updates yet the McAfee Antivirus can NOT remove them so something must be checked and put right. For me I know once you have installed updates you should be about 95% safe.

Make sure that you have taken 4x dat file first and uploaded it....I faced the similer problem while updating to no. 5200...but was resolved after that

Anyway this is very imp update as it include catch for dealy w32 worm which comes ina s trojan

I can not update my laptops McAfee Security center .After I run the program it's telling me can not find any qualified McAfee product????! but I have antivirus and antispay and everything in my McAfee Security Center.Will be happy if some one can help me to update my program without buying credits from the company McAfee.Thanks.

the size of your antivirus definition is big please try to minimize the size. otherwise it is difficult to download to our system b/c in our country the speed of internet is very slow.
