I am on XP and running IE8... purchased PC with MS Widows 1 yr ago... all worked fine till downloading Win Media 11... now have this window popping up saying not genuine windows... WGA... Have tried downloading 1.2 but still getting popup... have changed update settings but still appearing on start up... any ideas please... perhaps a step by step... I'm 65 and things are becoming harder to understand...thanks. BB

MS is kerezonking your programme, A friend downloaded it and emailed it to me minus the .exe, leaving it to me to add .exe. MS got in first - deleted the attachment. The same thing happened when he relabelled the programnme "wheelbarrow". All attempts to download from the Web fail. Download doesn't take place and I am shunted to a programme about music. I have no trouble with any downloads other than RemoveWGA, so I know MS is nobbling it - even when I try it from another mailer (K-Meleon) that's not IE.

Used in my System running on windows xp SP3. Works cool. Upon reboot, my avg asked if i need to run this software on start up (with a black background) which puzzled me a little. Anyway, went ahead. The program then reported removing logs/reg entries etc. Seems like no more WGA. Recommended!

Really, This WGA tool can be a way for personal profit of Microsoft, but its a tension for many users. Most of the people have complained that this notification is often appearing, even they have installed genuine lisence key. If this remover, works; than this software must be rated.

Works perfectly. One click and a reboot = problem solved. For those who are getting an error message, you're likely using it on Vista or higher. Right click and run as Administrator. Although WGA and this tool are both really an XP issue, it will run on Vista and 7. Just right click and run as Admin.

Very poor advice in these reviews. It obviously works for some OS but not for others. People should indicate what OS they are referring to.
No success with Windows 7 and I have a genuine copy but created a virtual copy then seems to have caused this issue.

Unbelievable!!! It worked. The most challenging part was being able to find the icon after it was downloaded. Mine was under documents and settings\dell\desktop. I ran it, rebooted, ran it again as it prompted and the messages were gone. It even gave a dialog box showing what it removed. One of the best pieces of programming ever written. Thank you to whomever created this and gave it free of charge.

I have XP SP3 OS. RemoveWGA worked fine in my PC. Once the system reboot, it no more flashed WGA message.

it's "cool"=) but i can rename/delete WgaTray.exe and WgaLogon.dll in windows\system32 and in windows\system32\dllcache. After this redoot your PC.

how to resolve or remove the software counterfeiting in my computer

I must have the nastiest WGA on the block. This tool didn\'t work for me. It tells me \"WGA not active on this machine\" even when the WGA screen is up on my desktop. I\'ve deleted MULTIPLE files with the terms \"wgasetup\" with regedit. Nonetheless, WGA notification remains. Any insights? I\'m running 32bit XP on a dell notebook. Thanks, -Chad

My version of XP is fully licensed but I still kept getting that annoying WGA display and then they had the nerve to try and coerce another $199 out of me for a licensed copy of XP which is already licensed. I don't think so Mr Gates. It's bad enough that I have already paid for Microshaft OS and software which just barely works.

Appeared to work OK, but notification message still came up on boot, so I used regedit to scan for "WGA", which showed one reference to C:WINNTsystem32KB905474wgasetup.exe.
I renamed the KB905474 directory and now the message no longer appears. mission accomplished

Couldn't get it to work, kept saying my anti virus was stopping it , well I shut down my zone alarm fire wall, my avg anti -virus, shut down my spy bot , shut down my lava soft and it still won't download - giving me the same message ???????????????

I can't believe It's been totally removed. I did have genuine copy years ago, and since lost disc, so when this oppped up I had to pay an expert to fix and remove it as it was nothing but headaches, and I DID have genuine installed Before.

after running the program (completed in 20 secs) and restarting the computer, ran a search for 'WGA'. the program files were still there on the system, but the difference was that i was able to simply delete them (they were write protected previously).

Although the WGA tool said that it had been removed from my system,the notification is still present in my ADD/REMOVE programs in control panel where it states that it cannot be deleted.Can this be removed and if so how?
Another way of getting rid of the WGA notification is by doing a system restore to just prior to when the WGA notification is installed although it does return as an automatic update later.Hope this helps.

I have a genuine version of windows XP but when my harddrive crashed and burned last time it was reloaded and this 'non genuine' problem has arisen since. I don't have the original registration.

I have been struggling with WGA off and on for a few weeks. After trying to manually disable myself, I found this program. I ran it, restarted my computer, and just like that WGA is gone! Thank you for this incredible tool.

If anyone would be so kind as to help me I would be so grateful. I know nothing about torrents, bits, heiristics, silent line perimeters etc.etc.etc. I am totally winging this to put it bluntly.
I bought a laptop. It had XP home on it. Within a week, it crashed. The guy I bought it from gave me a disk, apparently with XP Pro. I loaded it and repurchased all of my security etc. then when I went into windows for the necessary sp2 and other updates, they put this wga thing in my system that now prevents me from getting sp2, direct x, itunes or anything else, from them, that I need.
I just downloaded this tool (WGA removal) but I don't know what Im doing enough to use it. I am getting so confused reading all of this stuff that now, I'm just dumb founded. Please help me...Tell me what to do...step by step...please. I'd be willing to allow you to even look in on my system if you'll tell me how to do that. I am so exhausted trying to deal with this. I paid alot of money for this laptop and don't have more to fork out to microsoft for a whole new program.

This is first time I got into softpedia after searching for two weeks on WGA removal tools because it disturbed me a lot, but nothing seems to show the way out and I almost gave up because I thought it's useless looking for it, but when I'm searching in google, I found this and sudenly everything is done. I used it and it gave me the message Wga is not currently installed in your system. Yet i am still getting the wga flash window. My vista system is a genuine one and microsoft recognises it to be genuine but the message is not going away from the pc. Can someone pliz help

Works very well, i had some issues with WGA and found a few hot fixes that didnt really work, but this package was really easy to use and did the job..
what more could you want? say good bye to WGA, on a side note i didnt notice any spyware or viruses but i will run a check on the machine and post back in a little while.

Normally, I use Linux for 99% of my work. But due to one single application, Quickbooks, I have to have a separate machine with Windows. I bought a machine with a legitimate copy of Windows XP, but for no apparent reason, Microsoft decided it was not legal.

Thanks to RemoveWGA 1.2, I was able to get this machine back to a sane state. It worked like a charm!

Works like a charm. If it actually did have a traojan, I honestly don't caret oo much, the fact that is is gone is a much higher priority then me loosing some video game site passwords.

Fussed with other solutions for a time, then stumbled across this little gem of a program. There is nothing malicious about it at all. I installed, ran the thing, rebooted and it solved my problem of the WGA pops.

As far as getting around not having WGA RE-installed by windows update...do this:

After running the WGARemover and rebooting your computer go to Start>Control Panel> Automatic Updates.
Set it to 'Notify me, but don't automatically update and install.'
When the update prompts you that there is a new update to download...double click on the yellow shield.
Select Custom Install.
Uncheck the WGA box then click Close.
A window will prompt you to Hide Updates. Check the box that says don't notify me about this update again.
