I just installed Restoration today because my entire (~30GB) music directory was deleted during a file move failure. I tried about three other tools, which either took too long, did seemingly nothing, or could not find any files. When I first ran Restoration, I had my doubts. The GUI was not pretty, information message boxes were worded poorly, and it had very few controls. But when I put it to use, I was very surprised. Restoration was able to find every deleted file on the drive, and it was very fast (it probably took about two minutes on a 1TB drive, without scanning vacant clusters.) It was able to restore all of the files in tact, however the filenames had been obscured when the files were deleted (there is nothing Restoration could have done about it), leaving me renaming thousands of songs by hand. The good news is I still have the 30GB archive, and I was only really interested in music that had been moved in the past few days. Overall, this is an excellent utility, better than most expensive file restoration software. |
