I really like this programm so much. I would like to say thanks for the all workers in this place. By this software you make our life easier and interesting as we can communicate with our friends every time in anywhere with no limits so thanks alot my dear.

Since it hooked up FB, Skype become a major adware machine that rams everything into your face whether you like it or not. One case in point is Skype Home, which CANNOT be disabled!!! What? Unfortunately, too many of my friend are using Skype so I have no choice but to switch back to version 4. Skype is an absolute disgrace!!!

To many errors at boot-up in version 5.2.60.113 and to date no response as to how one can fix this.Reverted back to previous version but same problems.Have informed Skype about this but no response.

I have version 5.1.0.112. Has anyone any idea how to search for people who are not in my contact list? This feature seems to have disappeared and replace with a business search functionality. Another of the usual upgrade steps backwards?

Skype 5.1.0.104 is an huge step BACKWARD.
UI is scrambled when using 120dpi monitors.
All sort of error messages popup when using it
Partially incompatible with Win7
Confusing UI, not very inspired, problems on windows resizing
Resource hog, difficult to manage contacts in categories
It's a decent product, that unfortunately is victim of the "bloatware" syndrome.

Just uninstalled for the 3rd (?) time.
Won't come back before 2012 and meanwhilelook for an alternate that can deliver fundamentals rather than being caught up in aggressive promotion of even more marginal functions.
Why cant American service providers focus on the core function, and deliver a simple reliable capability instead of the "I've got a disease, attention deficit disorder down your throat cadillac all accessories and options vomit model" that I am just sick of.

Skype 5.0 isn't working on my Windows 7 Desktop. It crashes with an application error ("exception error 00DC0440"). It works fine on my XP Laptop. My recommendation is NOT to download onto Windows 7 PCs, until they fix the bugs.

SKype Version 4.1 is a big step backwards. One the call connects you cant enter numbers. SO when prompted to "press 1" during a call, you cant! I know that all corporations get stupid wen they get big, but this is ridiculous.

Oh dear, I just made the big mistake of clicking the "update skype" link. this version, 4.1.0.179 is TERRIBLE!! functionality might be decent - haven't had it long enough to check that, but the interface is absolutely AWFUL! WHAT were they thinking??
if something is good, why change it?? Don't like the set up; have to click a lot more now to call someone, and I don't like that if I'm "invisible", the tray icon is the same as "offline" - then I'm not sure whether I might have accidentally signed off.

I use this for video calls to London from New Zeland. Things were sweet till I upgraded to 4.1 which was offered on the Skype page. Now I suffer constant video freezes, pixellation when its going into a freeze, occasional audio fallout, and difficulty in navigating to and from conversation and video. In short - a disaster!

Added to this I am regularly getting invitations from people I dont want to know about inviting me to Skype with them. Every day I have to block these out before I start. Its a free service, but poor value in terms of the time I am spending trying to communicate with my daughter and my frustration levels and hers.

Are you goin to put out a fix soon, or do I remove 4.1 and go back to 3.8 as the forums are suggesting?

I have been using skype for some time.
What do i have to say about it. Let me put it this way, if you lived in an apartment that had a really good layout, had a near top of the range car that may have had some very minor quirks, but was a pleasure to drive, then what would you say if you were told something was better for you, and in the end you get a bomb of a car, and the worst house you could possibly think of. What would you do, uh?

skype 4.0.0.206 is a huge disappointment. . This version has poor functionality, bad use of real estate, makes me work more, is fluffy, has lost much refinement, a very bad user interface, and lacking substance that the previous versions had. Skype was not perfect, but it WAS GOOD.

If you have the prior versions, i can not recommend it. I also suggest doing as the other reviewer recommended of going to the skype website, and downloading the 3.8 version while you still can before the next fluff version comes out. Download it as a back up.

dont like this new one .. it restarts my computer for no reason i have a 1.80 gig chip and 2 gig of memory .. going back to 3.8 it is much better than this one .....

The new 4.0 version is a seriously a downgrade.
Some people like it, but, others and myself do not. I do not use video on it, as it is mainly chat, but sometimes voice.

I have used it since2006, and have been using the new version for several day, and am constantly discovering many features removed, limitations, harder to use, and very poor.

I am guessing those who may be ok with it or even like the new version, to be possibly video only users or new users who do not know what they are missing. The new chat window is horrible to use.

The new version is near ugly (if you use video screen stuck to the contacts, might not be so ugly, but how i use for chat, it is fugly), impractical, a real estate hog, harder to use, and what good things can i really say about such a devolution. Well, truthfully, some ok thinks. (not great, but just "ok")

To be fair, i do need to mention that some things that dont seem to be available, might be available if you explore menus, click things, and drag things. There are still however many things taken out of the previous 3.8 version.

While you still can, i recommend downloading the older 3.8 version from the skype com website while you still can. If it is still there, the link is right near the lower end of the page after clicking on the download page. The link describes it as download here for the previous version. (or something like that)

I have been trying to download Skype and I can't seem to get

top marks in this voip, cant fault it a free program thats worth every penny! but its free very easy to use improves all the time a big a++++ every home should have it.

a friend of mine has tried to download skype but is receiving a message' current security settings will not allow download' Any ideas on how he can get past this?

I installed Skype 3.6 and my system stopped working! Using XP pro, anytime I go to Internet, my computer froze, no Ctrl-Alt-Del helped, I had to remove battery and power from my laptop. I switched back to 3.5 and it works fine. Probably has something to do with my camera, but terrible update. Skype is getting just like other programs. I had to restore my OS to previous day to restore the system. Uninstalling Skype alone didn't help - it messed up something in named settings, that resulted in DCOM dead lock.

Trying not to curse, but f..., people at Skype, get a grip.

This is a fantastic software!
I call any days for hours together from Portugal to Swizzerland and Germany.
So far I have not a problems with this calls.
The best: I see my wive with the Videophone and is priceless by call PC to PC.
Others software cannot or cannot better.

Skype is definitely a fantastic piece of software, but I had one problem, and that is how to update form skype 2.5 to 3.0. When the last major update that came out, I tried to download it again but that crashed the computer. When I click "check for updates" on skype, it does not find any. I don't know whether to try downloading it again or to just wait.

I wasn't notified by Skype that there was a version 2.0.0.43. I thought that I had the latest version (1.4.0.84)!

I love this program. I was given free Skype out credit by Skype and I was actually shocked that is works. I can actually call people!

I love this program, but I find I dont use it as much as I do with MSN Messenger. The sound on this is crystal clear...even if you are on dial up. This is a great problem...only 1 problem...TOO MANY UPDATES!!! Within one week, there was 3 updates...isnt that a bit extreme!!!
